With his four points tonight, Marner moved past Rick Vaive and into the top ten on the Leafs career points list.

He's 25.
Thats something I have been taking note of the last couple of years. Matthews , Marner, and Nylander (Edit) will go down as all time Leaf players relatively early in their career, which is actually kind of embarrassing for an Original 6 team that we don't keep good players around long enough to put up these kind of numbers lol.

I think it's more that until now, we haven't drafted players that good to begin with, not in the 50+ years I've been following anyway.

I just think it's a pretty awesome achievement, regardless of how spotty our history is and I don't recall anyone even mentioning it in the media (I could be wrong).

An absolute gem however as well we all have been told we need defense. I would go after this stud in Washington, Sandin has like 7 points in 3 games pretty sure they'd do this deal too. And at which point I would take my hat off and a bid you adieu to one of the best offensive players ever! Graceful passing and great IQ I personally appreciate you, glad you worked on your shooting constantly. You have earned everything you worked for. Honestly after you getting car jacked you probably felt helpless for moment not scared however loss of control. Something you basically always has got to control in most hockey arenas night in and out being either the best on the ice that night or on rare occasions 2nd. You probably upped your ceiling another level tbh. You may take it to the generational level talent tag in no time.

While I think he is a bit overhyped in this place, he is our leader this season and has been nothing but sensational

Even better news Marner is progressing /developing as a player. Let's hope his play transfers smoothly into playoff hockey.

He got a bit of an edge this year, so good chance it will work in the playoffs too.

Top parts a slight on fans these days and their yo yo opinions 🤣 of course Marner is a gem and hate to see him gone. Plus it's appreciation thread most of these are for leaving players are they not? So kinda played into that format.

In Today's world you get a parade for showing up to work if you're in the media. The bar is set so low for this kind of thing that it's borderline pathetic. All of the tribute threads aren't warranted, not a single one. If you want to celebrate a leaving player, sure whatever. For active players though? How about you carry the team through a playoff series on your own, or be the star of a game 7 ECF with a hatty.

I can't stand this stuff. It's totally broken and irrational just like after Dubas got ROR everyone wants to extend him automatically. It's unreal and more importantly comes off as bi-polar.

I don't do it these to often and mostly skim them, I'm not sure who hockey forums the players might or would look at. I'm sure they have a favorite for parties or as jokes amongst themselves at times. You're not wrong sticking to your guns they really havnt won anything. I do believe the carjacking Marner is different then the one we seen previously to that. You may see him do just that take this team and go.

Anyways getting back to appreciation threads sometimes I'll through a few kind words and we'll wishes but I think they are few and fair between. Tavares hack job also is nice to see as he's starting to realize it's hurt or be hurt. Like it or not this time might be ready to buck.

IMO there should be no more tribute/appreciation threads until player leaves the team.

I think we can all agree he’s earning his controversial 10.9 million dollar contract.

I sure hope he really really shows it in the PO's because of the big 3 or 4 he has sort of been the weakest link post season.

100% been saying this for years.

This is why NHL awards are for the most part stupid. Best defenceman is ALWAYS best offensive defenceman. best defensive forward is almost always a center. Veznia is almost always goalie with best sv%.

I've fallen out of touch with those awards because they are useless pointless accolades, I couldn't tell you the last 3 Veznia or Norris winners.

“He’s not the biggest, the strongest, or the fastest, but he can take over games with his brains, its really really impressive to watch”. Mike Johnson.

I think MJ is underselling Mitch's athletic ability, that jock strap rafters move on Skinner, he's probably one of 10 people in the world that could do that? the dexterity and speed he did that is unreal. Better than the Datsyukian.

I hope they all show it in the PO's. It's like Matthews last season, he scored all those goals, won some trophies and I just don't care. I'd trade everything he did in the regular season for just one more win for the team in the playoffs. Same goes for Marner, people are going crazy over him and sure he's playing great but unless the team makes some noise in the playoffs ...

Gotta ask… who would folks trade Mitch Marner for 1 for 1?

IMO, Nobody, other than McDavid.

Depends, is the contract/term a factor?

Marner NMC kicks in after this season. We'll either find a way to pay all three or we're getting 1st, 2 2nds,3rd and a bag full of pucks if we are lucky, forget McDavid.

Draisaitl, Vas, Makar, McDavid, Kaprizov, Panarin, Kucherov .. off the top of my head and I'm a big fan of Marner's game.
