That was a very nice goal. However, I think Marner's best goal he scored this season was the overtime winner against the Rangers.

Mitch Marner is probably our best player… taking nothing away from Matthews, Mitch is literally a hockey magician.
Matthews is the Leafs best goal scorer, and no one would argue with that.

Marner is the much better playmaker, which takes nothing away from Matthews.

I'm just happy knowing that both are playing for the Maple Leafs.

Remember when some Leafs fans wanted to trade him because he was having a long slump a season or two ago? Yeah this is why you DON'T OVERREACT when good players are going through difficult stretches at times because some of our fans would've traded both Nylander and Marner off the team long ago. :shakehead :shakehead :shakehead

I'm pretty sure it was mitch's fault we let in three goals tonight just waiting for a certain poster to show the evidence lol

There was a sizeable faction that wanted him gone at the end of October. I'm not sold quite yet on JT on the wing but I really expect to see some great chemistry between Mitch and ROR.

Like I said his first year. This is a generational player. I said he was the second best player in his draft. He is Magic.

Marner is a lightening rod for criticism because he is a bit emotionally immature. On most nights he can pull you out of your seat with his dazzling skills. On other nights though he can make you turn off the television in disgust. I think if he simplified his game he would be even more devastating - same for all of the offensive dynamos on this team.

Getting Marner fifth overall was one of the better decisions this franchise made and it cannot be overstated considering how many high profile misses the organization has had (Luke Schenn for example).

Obviously I am not happy with this team consistently bowing out in the first round, but it is certainly preferable to those barren eras where we had to rely on other team's scraps and left overs to barely contend for the last playoff spot. For once the Leafs have a core of strong players that they have drafted and developed - Morgan Reilly, Mitch Marner, Auston Matthews, Rasmus Sandin, Timothy Lilgren, Pierre Engvall, William Nylander, etc.
