No one can get him the puck

Bertuzzi always just dumps it in and then does nothing and Tavares has never been a great puck handler

The line gets the zone dumps it in and then Marner barely touches it after

When the line worked with nylander, it was because nylander was always carrying the puck in to the zone, and around the zone. Bert and Tavares were net front guys

Either marners gotta adapt and be more assertive from the zone entry on, or we gotta shuffle the line around

Dropping Mitch to the third line would give him more skill to pass to and allow him easier matchups to find his groove again. Jarnkrok plays the type of game that would work with Bert and JT.

Knies-Matthews-Nylander
Bertuzzi-Tavares-Jarnkrok
Robertson-Domi-Marner
That line would most likely become the 2nd line. A little more finish and they are already there without mitch.

I'd love to see a domi - bobby - marner line.

And yeah that's the second line all day long.

Marner hasn't done much wrong IMO. He still looks dangerous out there. Bert especially and Tavares on the other hand have looked meh 5 on 5. A

Yeah that line clearly isn't working.
Even when playing poorly, Marner had a huge impact on getting the point. Without his play on two of the goals they very likely lose in regulation.

Just watch the game
When Tavares has the puck marner has to actually stop at the blue line and wait for Tavares. Tavares may get points but he is slow as molasses

Not great Bob.

Time to go back to the more effective lines. Marner/Matthews always take a bit to get going but splitting up Tavares/Nylander this year was a pretty big mistake as they were cooking.

xGF%:
Tavares/Nylander: 59.77
Tavares/Marner: 39.31

Matthews/Marner: 49.50
Matthews/Nylander: 45.51

I know the results have still been there but I hope to see the change soon.

Marner now has as many even strength goals as Nylander, and Nylander has been amazing.

We have a 3 headed monster in Matthews, Marner and Nylander and it’s really sad that some people go out of their way to talk crap constantly about one or more of the 3, like you can’t be a fan of all 3 players.

On a 100 point, 38 goal pace now. Hopefully he finds his form soon.

Who knew it all came down to Domi?

:sarcasm:

Really, the Leafs have a tonne of talent.

Coach puts the lines together (I hope) and about the only thing that I wonder about is Tavares and ?.

Watching Nylander and Matthews fly through defenses, or marner and Matthews dissect defenses, and Tavares and ? score from 10 feet ...

I don't know I'm not a coach, but looking at Tavares career before Toronto, he really seemed to do well with less than elite linemates.

Does a pairing of Bertuzzi and Tavares make more sense?

Mitch and Matty have been amazing lately. Impressive they are closing in on Willie, who has been Mr. Consistency this year. Mitch being 2 goals behind Willie is impressive.
