I hope we trade him so he can flourish elsewhere and I can listen to everyone who constantly bashed him despite having no clue the player he’s developed into (calling him small, bad defensively, no willing to be physical, etc) can bash management and say they always knew or some shit.
how many defensemen who are AHL all stars as a 20 year old go on to amount to anything? I'm guessing zero

I guess thats fair but with the team he is on, he won't even get a chance in VHL and barely gets 2 shifts in the KHL per game. He's in a tough spot

If he is good enough, he will play. Sibir is not a rich team and they don't have a ton of high end talent. If they have a player who can play for cheap and play decently well, they will play that guy.

Fair enough. I guess this season will tell.
Have you seen anything on Miettinen? I'm pretty sure he didn't have a contract in St. Cloud past this season. Assuming he is staying there. He takes his education very seriously apparently
Edit: his brother has joined St. Cloud too.

There are no contracts in the NCAA. He is there for as long as he is eligible, which is another 3 years.

Ok thanks

Are you getting that from his EP profile where he has a '-' under Contract?

I think they do that with all of the Junior players in North America except for OAers and guys signed by NHL teams in the CHL.

Ovechkinov is in a weird situation. He’s too good for the mhl, but won’t get decent khl minutes. Due to the lack of competition in the vhl and how development isn’t incentivized, he won’t get development there so he has to make his khl team or else he won’t improve.

Not to mention that someone last season mentioned that Sibir's VHL affiliate isn't even theirs, so sending him to the VHL is essentially like sending him to Siberia (ba dum, tss). It's KHL or MHL for Ovchinnikov, and the issue is that small market teams like Sibir need to win as many games as possible, which means they have no use for developing guys in the KHL.

Kind of just a trash situation for a guy that is way too good for the MHL.

I was just hearing from some people on twitter this season that he didn't have a contract past this season. I know not the best resource but still.

I hope we get bunch of rookie invites that didn't get drafted this year
I am sure there will be a lot of gems
