Schingoethe has a hat trick in the 2nd period. I find him hard to evaluate as there is not much that stands out.
Wyatt Schingoethe plays on the first line, first unit pk, and first unit pp. Disregard my earlier post...or waterloo must have switched it up.
on the pp:
- he’s responsible for zone entries, but nothing complicated with what he does. They were successful however
- used on the halfboards, tried a cross-seam pass but failed
- used as a secondary playmaker, but methinks he’s miscast
5v5:
- plays the f2, 2nd forward on the forecheck who reacts to what the f1 does (f1 is the first guy attacking the puck, hyman is prototypical f1 and veeti miettinen is prototypical f3)
- for a guy who’s 5’11 and 200lbs in the ushl, he looks smaller and should be VERY hard to knock over, but i saw him get knocked down twice and pushed around too much
- more of a shooter than playmaker
- at his best when he’s parked in front of the net where he scored a goal and also at his best when he can find space in the slot where he also scored another goal
- okay skater, nothing stood out to me
- i find that he does not really have a skill that stands out. I said the same about tverberg, but looking at both, i think toyberg’s iq and skating stands out a lot more in comparison
- doesn’t really drive a lot of play 5v5 even though he scored a hat trick in my face
- for a guy who’s 5’11 200 lbs in the ushl, he’s not physical
penalty kill:
- only time he plays center
- has lost every faceoff i’ve watched
- okay positioning
- the best part of his game is the pk as i feel waterloo is better off with schingoethe on the pk (i don’t track stats, but i feel this)
- he scored a shorthanded goal where his linemate drove to the net, schingoethe snaps rebound, skates it behind the net away from goalie and dman and backhands it in
ncaa projection: all situations probably, should be used as net front presence or bumper on the pp, he should be a very good pker, 5v5 game needs to improve although he should be fine for ncaa 5v5
I see him as a good ahler. If he makes the nhler, it will be on the bottom six. I don’t see a lot of upside, but he’s one of the few prospects who pk. His size may limit him as a netfront presence in the nhl, but his offence will come from him skating into open high danger spaces.
I will watch fusco next. I think i was too critical last time.
