They should really stop Yoyo-ing Liljegren and let him play, regardless of which league it is.

Looking forward to seeing Kral play.

They are rotating around a bunch of players, by the end of the week little green will be down and someone else will be up, its good for the marlies players, they get to be around the Leaf players and maybe make more money?

Dermott's gotten just over 200 NHL games under his belt. Still only 24 and room to grow, as a lot of defensemen can take time to develop in the NHL.

There could be better options but there could also be a lot worse and defensive depth is really important for a contending team. No need to willingly give up on him yet.

Depth for this year is important. The question being, do we think Sandin will be better? It's been unfortunate that Covid, and injuries haven't given him much ice time this year, but at some point, a decision will need to be made on Sandin vs. Dermott.

Dermott is a perfectly acceptable 3rd pairing guy, but as of yet, hasn't really taken much progress forward. Maybe he could be a guy like Holl, who with the right partner, could be an acceptable second pairing guy, but on his own, he hasn't really taken the next step forward. I think many had hoped he could make that next step, and perhaps push out Muzzin. I don't think it's premature, to say that such a thing is unlikely to happen.

So, it's going to eventually come down to Sandin vs. Dermott, and I think Sandin has a bigger upside... but time will tell.

Marlies play tomorrow, don’t they? Liljegren has what, 13 GP on the year. He needs games.

100%. It doesn’t help his development. I get that they want to have the best call up but this kid needs to focus on playing 20mins a night with the Marlies.

Dare I say have Marincin yo-yo.

They are doing it to get him some practice time with the Leafs. He's played 12/18 games with the Marlies thus far, so he's been there 2/3's of the time.

Depends on what happens with Rielly, in the long run Sandin is probably a better fit for his minutes assuming that the skating issues improve.

Robertson bsent to the Marlies

Ljiligren on the taxi squad

Hope Robertson plays today

I would hope that Sandin could fill Reilly's role on PP1, which would be an important factor in deciding whether they can move on from Reilly when his next contract comes up.

I think that role would actually be the easiest one to fill between Sandin & Liljegren, we don't ask a lot of that high point man - just be a competent passer, move well along the blue line and if you're going to shoot just make sure it's a tippable effort. I would bet that both prospects could slide right on to PP1 fairly seamlessly, the biggest adjustment would be them learning not to do too much because that unit doesn't run through the point.

The 5v5 minutes are the bigger question mark to me.

Muzzin would be able to do what Rielly does on the PP. He has the same amount of even strength points despite playing the hardest matchups every night.

With that said Sandin should be able to run PP1, and Liljegren could also run a PP and is dangerous as he's one of the only guys in this organization that has a high end 1T.

im pretty sure little green doesn't play the PP on the marlies that often, even this year, he seems to be trending towards a 3rd pairing dman ... he like to make the odd single handed rush and tries to get involved in the Ozone sometimes but he doesn't have quarterbacking or patience with the puck skill set like sandin

Robertson should get plenty of minutes tonight with the Marlies. I wonder if he'll play with SDA at all, if they are reunited. Another SDA linemate that we signed, Gogolev, hasn't played any games yet. Any idea why he hasn't played, and what he is doing?

Do you watch the Marlies at all? How often have you watched them?

never seen a game, how about you?

So you are commenting on him not being on their power play, or being quarterback with patience, without watching? He has been THE PP quarterback this year, and in general as well. Your commentary couldn't be further off the mark. Eight points in twelve games, dominating play at times, quarterbacking, and yet still playing strong D. Three of eight points, while quarterbacking the PP>

By the way, here is a clip of their last game, where he completely quarterbacked the play, and scored the goal, also showed sound defensive awareness.

He has had visa issues and is still in Sweden. Likely won't be coming over to the Marlies this year, but we may re-sign him for next year to give him a chance.

On his Instagram story he posted a photo of a plane ticket from Amsterdam to Toronto about 10 days ago.

I have missed some games but from what I’ve seen Moore started the year with Rosen and Sandin on the PP’s, Liljegren had to earn that spot all over again despite having the highest PPG on the Marlies D last year (as the second PP QB).

Then last game I saw Duszak of all people as the PPQB. Moore is only giving Liljegren intermittent PP time from my viewings this year (6 of Liljegren’s games), which is very puzzling to me as he clearly has elite passing skills and a rocket from the point and has excelled on the PP both last year and this year.

This take is bordering on ridiculous. I suggest you watch a Marlies game for once and stop getting your Liljegren updates from Brian Hayes.

Seriously I don't know if you're trolling and purposely trying to stir us up in here, but you're brainless when it comes to Liljegren's game and abilities

Duszak has a pretty decent offensive skill set

ok bud, youre one of those guys that I bet thinks little green should have been on the leafs years ago right, now tell me why I should listen to your opinion on him?

AHL production by age up to the 21yo season (current season for Liljegren) has some pretty significant correlation with NHL success (not perfect by any means, but one of the best predictors). Liljegren's has been elite by age throughout his AHL career, trending above guys like Ryan Pulock who followed a similar development path.

So I mean its fine if you don't want him to turn out, but the indicators on him are much better than you're suggesting. If you're a leaf fan, I don't know why you'd be betting against him.
