Really hard to judge goalie stats out of those leagues. It's obviously a good thing he has good stats, but there are 13 teenagers in the MHL with 0.930+ save % (and that's only goalies who have played 16+ games, so the list doesn't even include Artur because he hasn't played enough).

2020‑2021 MHL Goalie Stats

In the playoffs for example he's 12th in save % among MHL goalies (6th if you want to only look at goalies with 5+ games).

2021 MHL Goalie Playoff Stats

I'm curious to see him in the KHL or AHL in the next few years, because I think that will be more indicative of how he's doing.
100% agree. I said the same thing on here a couple months back. I Have no clue but it seems like every goalie in Russia has a .920 or greater and a GAA of 2.5 or better...at almost every level as well. I wonder if its because the bigger sheet is easier to defend. Keep them on the perimeter and it creates less HDCF. Who knows. But I totally agree, the only way to really analyze his stats are against his peers

It really is amazing how this list, and the quality of our prospect pool, has been transformed through the last 2 drafts. That's how you remain competitive over time, and can afford to pay big bucks to our top 4. Great job done by Dubas and the scouting staff.
I think its the most impressive aspect of Kyle Dubas' tenure TBH. He has stocked the cupboard quite well, despite trading away 2 first round picks and drafting later in rounds. A lot of credit needs to go to the scouting staff for finding sub 1st round gems like Robertson, Miettenen, Ovchinikov, Abruzesse, Niemela...etc. But I also think KD deserves a massive amount of credit for his moves to acquire more picks for them to use. He routinely trades down to multiply. We have had 27 selections in the 3 drafts he has been GM. The more chips you lay on the table, the more likely you will hit here or there. And as we are seeing, those selections are starting to become real tradeable assets now at the TDL. For example, a player like Veeti Miettenen who was drafted in the 6th round just a handful of months ago has already matured past his draft position. His value in a trade at the current moment would be much higher than a 6th round pick. WHen you trust your staff to make solid picks, you need to give them as many picks as possible. KD has done that, and it is clearly paying off. We have a great team now, and an even brighter future TBH

Not a Leafs prospect but I find it interesting that Dustin Wolf currently has a .991 save percentage after 4 games. 3 shutouts and 1 goal against in that time.

Did north dakota just get eliminated? And to an unranked team? Oh, that was semi-finals.

UMD was 9th, just they stopped after 4 for some reason.

Went to 5OT's. Longest in NCAA tournament history.

We should see a rush of UFA's sign relatively soon. Kiersted, Tufto, and Kawaguchi are all out (I personally wouldn't give ELC's to the latter two). Metsa, Steeves, and Scheel are out too but they may return for their senior years. Bunch of guys who likely get AHL deals are also out. Ottawa has a bunch of UND prospects they may sign as well (Pinto, Sanderson, Bernard-Docker, etc.)

Mostly just need to wait for Minnesota and BC to finish up for Ben Meyers and Marc McLaughlin (and Brannon McManus for an AHL deal) to become available.

I wanted him so bad when he was still available in the 7th round. We drafted Loponen instead. I had Wolf as one of the top goalies. At least out of the ones I had seen.

I'm not sure he will ever become a starter but I think he could become a Saros level goalie.

I think he could end up a sleeper hit for the Leafs if he keeps this level of play up.
He'll have a bigger role with St. Cloud next season. His numbers are going to shoot up (assuming no injuries). At this time next year he's going to have a lot of hype.

Same with a guy like Koster if some of those D ahead of him in Minnesota's lineup turn pro.

Yep. Both guys have been great this season and will be in an excellent position to build off of that next season. Really looking forward for the next Gophers game to see Koster again.

Leafs NCAA scouting seems to have gotten better in recent years

Yeah small goalies get no love until they make it happen. The bias is a little ridiculous IMO. Strauss Mann is still available I think.

Dustin Wolf is under 6'0" tall though (he was measured closer to 5'11", which is really small for a goalie) and had some question marks beyond just his size (i.e. his athleticism was questioned, as well as the fact that he played for Everett who is known for making goalies look better than they are). If you are not a perfect package as a smaller goalie, you don't go high. If Saros was 6'3", he'd probably be in conversations as one of the best goalies in the league right now.

Dylan Garand went in the 4th round and he was not even 6'1". He looks like a complete package but his size hurt him too.

St. Cloud are off to the frozen 4 after a 4-1 win. They will face the winner of the Gophers game. It could be leafs prospect showdown in the semis.

Smaller goalies are starting to make a comeback. I saw a tweet a few weeks ago that was posted on Facebook. I tried to find the tweet and im not sure when it was from but it was showing the combined sv% of goalies who were 6'1 or smaller and compared to the sv% of goalies who were 6'2 or bigger and the smaller goalies actually had a slightly higher sv%.
