One player that has surprised me is Brazeau. I appreciate that he had some skating issues, but he'd put up so many points in the OHL. Given his size, and our general lack of size in the lineup, he's a guy I was really cheering for. It was great to see his success first year in the ECHL. Nearly PPG in his first Pro season, and onto bigger, and better things this year with the Marlies. But he's got just two goals in 13 games. Now he's an AHL healthy scratch. Surprised, and disappointed, but he was certainly worth the gamble.

I think this goes to show that NHL execs still use a lot of narrative to form their opinions. I've seen that "people have concerns about Liljegren" but consider both Robertson and Sandin to be very good prospects. Read between the lines all you want with "decision making" etc, Liljegren is a much higher floor prospect than Sandin because he is so much better of a skater.

Sounds like if lily plays well he might be traded and if not he won’t.
So do we hope he does?

I don't understand why Liljegren isn't much more highly regarded as a prospect just in general. He's a very dynamic offensive talent, who is also extremely reliable and steady in his own end

Really, we shouldn't care what the press, or other fans think of our prospects. He'll just end up in the lineup next year, and in a few years, people will be saying, where did this guy come from? He's going to be good for us.

It's just puzzling more than anything else. If it leads to the Leafs not trading Liljegren then it's probably a blessing in disguise, it just makes no sense

So how did Woll look today? 3 goals on 24 shots...

Not bad. Had some trouble with some cross-seam stuff and there was a rip off of the draw that went top corner. The cross-seam stuff was partially on the defense not being able to tie up their man but he can learn to play those better.

No weak goals and he made some big saves, so even though the numbers are not great, he earned the win.

He is a solid goalie prospect.

I don’t want to trade any of our top 4 prospects for any help this year. We don’t have the goalies.

Maayyybe amirov? That’s about it if you get a stud but I doubt anyone is available

next years D should be

rielly. Brodie
muzz. Holl/dermott
Sandin. Lilly
7th vet D to spell them off.

Not that it's a big issue, but I think the somewhat negative public/scouting perception is how lackadaisical he can look defensively. His overall defensive game has become a strength, but his focus wanes at times once the cycle is established and his spatial awareness is a bit lacking. He's shown the ability to completely kill cycles with body positioning but is a bit inconsistent in that area and can get caught puck watching/not playing territorially in the D-zone slot.

One of the biggest improvements in his game this year is the speed of his decision-making and assertiveness on the breakout. In previous years, he'd get his pocket picked on breakouts or casually run himself into traffic because he waited too long to make decisions. I think people confuse that with having inherently poor decision-making, when in reality its the natural progression of a young, skilled D in a physical men's league because he's improved year by year and it's barely a concern now.
