Is Galchenyuk playing center or wing for the Marlies? From Dubas' presser yesterday, it sounds like Galchenyuk is a LONG term project. I feel like they are grooming him to be a 3C?

Here is the presser, for those who missed it. Maple Leafs getting positive reports from Marlies on Galchenyuk's progress - Sportsnet.ca

He does mention development staff a great deal, and working on his game. It wouldn't shock me at all, to see him resigned for next year, and want to stick with the club. It would be at near league minimum amount, but at this point in time, he should be happy that someone is willing to help him reset, and find his game again. I don't expect him to be part of the picture with the Leafs this year, but it wouldn't shock me at all, should he be given a chance at some point next year.

No idea what position he's playing though.

My top 10 in order:

Sandin
Timmy
Robby
Amirov
Niemela
Hallander
Miettinen
Hirvonen
Abruzzese
Anderson

3 Prospects I am most interested in outside of top 10 in order:

Ovchinnikov
Koster
Abramov

Talent Král nesleze z ledu: Máme větší sílu, věří obránce v postup Komety | iSport.cz
Kral talking about his game and playoffs.
Apparently Vitkovice was paying extra attention to Kral.

On another note, the people on twitter who are seeing the games are raving about Kral. Someone even said he has been the best player from all the teams in the playoffs.
Is there plans for Kral to join the Marlies if/when his season is done? I cannot wait to see SDA in action, and some of our other euro prospects hopefully

I like Hayes but this is one topic he is out to lunch on. You would think he would've learned his lesson when Bob made him look bad on air last year.
Yeah I have soured on Hayes the last year or so and it's like he forgot what Bob told him last year. His takes get really odd. I still like him, but not sure why he acts like an expert on Liljegren.

Here are the playoff series for our prospects, and their stats in the series and entire playoffs. I will add the other leagues when their playoffs start.

Notes:

I think people need to take readiness into consideration for prospect rankings. Liljegren playing in the AHL for 2 seasons with the type of upside he has makes him the #1 ranked prospect in our pool. He is definitely ahead of Niemela and Amirov. He's also still ahead of Sandin too.

I get that the shiny new toy is good and all but you guys are seriously underrating Liljegren and overrating the new guys.

I just don't understand how you can put in newly drafted player ahead of guys further along in their development. These guys aren't even McDavid or Marner level prospects where they can be ahead of older drafted prospects due to being more talented.
Definitely agree, he was 6' when he was drafted, same as now, except as he's grown to a solid 200lbs and last I heard Niemela was still 5'11 and was 163 lbs at the draft.

Is he the #1 prospect over Sandin is definitely debatable, as I still have visions of that pre-season game where Babs ran him out there for 28 minutes in all situations and the kid looked like a #1 Dman rock star. If that's Sandin's upside I don't know if Liljegren can top that, even tho Liljegren has a higher top gear and Sandin has so far shown that to be his only weakness.

Both are great puck handlers, creative offensively, have nice passing skills and good solid clappers from the point. Both are good skaters but I think Liljegren even turned that up a notch over last season and hopefully Sandin has too, even though he hasn't really had the chance to show it much at all yet this year

I agree. Sandin and Lilly could be about interchangeable here. Robertson in the 3rd spot and Amirov taking #4. After that, anyone's personal preference really.

Liljegren has looked completely lost at the NHL level. Its ignorant to still think Liljegren dropped in the draft due to mono. Liljegren from my stance is no longer a prospect. He wont get called up this year. I dont think he will play another game for the Leafs moving forward. I dont see Liljegren ever playing 100 NHL games, he will play in europe in the next 2-3 years.

What did Bob say to Hayes? Definitely missed that
Hayes was going on about how Lilly is basically a bust and shouldve been in the show by now. This was after Muzzin and Rielly went down with injuries last year and they called up Sandin. Bob then says from everything he's seen and heard from Leafs/ Marlies staff was that Lilly had been the best player on the Marlies (including Sandin) as well as one of the best players in the AHL. Also stated that the only reason Sandin was up instead of Lilly was because of handedness. Hayes then has a dumb look on his face and says "ohh really?"

This is all after he admits that he never watches the Marlies yet he has such a strong opinion on Lilly

This my friend, is one of most quotable posts going. Such an incredible hot take, and what a conclusion to draw, after this poster saw him play in what three or four of his ELEVEN NHL games, but hasn't seen him play at all, at the AHL level. This is one of those posts you save, and then in a year or two, repost it, and then the poster quits the forum, or gets a new user name.

Tbh this is quite funny considering he was just recently called up

and by recently, I mean hours ago

Its cute that you've gone with the troll strategy in order to get someone to give a damn about a thing you say, too bad it's a pathetic attempt and even worse opinion if you actually believe it

Guys stop giving him attention. He's had that ignorant opinion for 2 years now, and we all know he is wrong.
Also it's one of those takes that should be removed. It's clear bait by that user.

I feel the same about your response, but lets quit talking. PM me if u want to make a wager on it, actions speak louder than words. Ill bet, hopefully u will.

His call up is more of a thank u and give him NHL money. Please re watch Liljegren's NHL games but if u cant understand hockey sense or good decisions from an NHL player, then u wont ever see my point. I love the Leafs, but im not putting my head in the sand.

he is quite possibly a top 5 AHL defender rn

this is really just dumb

AHL success doesnt = NHL success. In the NHL u have less time, space and 5 guys with high hockey sense reading your moves. Dermott controlled play in the AHL at times, his hockey sense at the NHL level is exposed. Top 5 AHL defender means squat. Marincin looks good in the AHL, so did Connor Carrick.

None of them looked like the Roman Josi of the AHL

or heck, even the Jake Muzzin of the AHL

Good thing Lilly's hockey sense is strong.

None of them were as good Liljegren
Players make AHL $ on the Taxi Squad.
This proves again the user doesn't know what is going on.

Sandin
Liljegren
Robertson
Amirov
Niemela
Abruzzese
Miettinen
Kral/Koster
Abramov

Only reason I have Sandin ahead of Lilly is because of offensive upside. Its nice to see that Lilly is finally getting the appreciation he deserves. Wonder what Hayes has to say about him now. Probably still doesn't have a clue.

We have a pretty good looking pool.
Agree with your ranking of Kral/Koster. I have no problem ranking those two aggressively high on the prospect list after their breakouts this year. Comfortably my favourite D prospects outside of Sandin/Liljegren/Niemela. I would rank Kral ahead due to having a bigger role against men in a pro league, but they're close due to Koster's IQ and skating, which IMO are standout enough to give him an eventual NHL career.

Niemela also rounds out the top 5 for me, which is a tier of its own. The arrangement of that grouping is debatable.

I think the Abramov/Abruzzese debate is interesting again. Abramov started his Q season on a tear and showed glimpses of high-end ability at the WJC that started to separate him for me. However, his overall tournament was a bit underwhelming given the hype (suspension, scratches, misuse by coaches, etc.) and his production post-WJC in the Q is disappointing.
