There is some truth to this though... he found a place that is best for him to "excel". A team devoid of much talent, where his complete lack of speed doesn't matter. It's the best fit for him. This is part of team building too... we talk about bringing in players, but we don't know if they'll fit with us... I'm not even sure how to judge that to be honest. Marginal upgrades, might not be upgrades at all, if they don't find a way to fit.
Ritchie had a level of performance with Anaheim and Boston as well as AZ, and these included some pretty strong lineups. I think it has more to do with Keefe not having any affinity for physical players. It isn't an accident that the club gets outhit every night but still performs. This is Keefe hockey. I wish he could incorporate more contact onto the club because it could make them a tougher matchup in the playoffs, but second overall without hitting seems to be working.

Don't take me for a Ritchie apologist though because 15 g from a power forward couldn't save his spot with the Ducks or Bs. Maybe he can't contribute in a meaningful way to any winning club.

Ritchie had lots of chances to prove his worth...he was simply and utterly useless.

I mean he is big, he isn't physical at all. He got a chance with good teams because of the potential of him being a big physical power forward with good hands. Each one of those teams realized he is not that player and moved the f*** on. That isn't on Keefe. He gave him every opportunity to be something here.

He's pretty much what people complain about Engvall except Engvall doesn't get the same excuses.
Ritchie has no excuse to be as soft as he is.

Nah. Ritchie just couldn’t skate with our guys. Keefe not liking physicality is absolute BS.

Outside of the bottom feeders who’s ahead of us? NJ and Carolina?
Even if it's 5 teams in the East we have too look ahead Tavares ain't no spring chicken and Mathews, well anything could happen. We don't have a lot of top end prospects and in 2 years this team could look totally different. Imagine we do lose the first round again? Me I would trade Holl and Kerfoot for picks and only trade my first for a younger guy on term but at least load up on the later picks and give yourself a chance. We haven't actually won anything yet.

Marlies win 7-5.
They trailed pretty much all game and 4-2 in the third. They tied it 4-4. Rochester took the lead again and Marlies tied it again, and Abruzzese scored with 9 seconds left to take the lead. He also added 2 assists
Anderson goal and 2 assists
Hoffenmeyer goal and assist
Villeneuve goal
Kokkonen and Abramov assist
Woll 27 saves.
Shaw with a 5 point night
Shots were tied at 33

abramov has been in and out of the lineup all season since coming back from injury and it's hella frustrating to watch

Any updates on Hollowell? He went into the boards awkwardly and limped off the ice on Wednesday nights game.

So the Leafs have quite a few prospects succeeding in the AHL and have even more on the way in the minors, college and overseas, and yet the Leafs have nothing?

That's because a majority of our prospects are 21 and under. It's unrealistic to think players that age to be playing in the NHL on a top team. Especially ones that aren't top 10 picks.

Holmberg has been a solid contributer so far. Robertson was getting reps before injury. Hollowel filled in nicely for his 6 games with injuries. Kral as well in his 2 games. Knies will likely be a huge addition this year for the playoffs if he signs after his college season. It's not like we haven't seen any prospects getting NHL games.

In the next 2 years we could be seeing Steeves, SDA, Villeneuve, Woll, Anderson, Abruzzese, Minten, Tverberg, Niemela and Hirvonen all playing games in the NHL or even being regulars. Maybe even Kokkonen and Abramov as long shots.

Amirov may have been playing for the Leafs this year if not for having brain tumor shortly after being drafted.
