I expect Robertson is going to get a lot of PK time in the AHL this year? Leafs have 5 of their 7 main PKer's contracts expiring this year. I would be pushing hard for Robertson, Anderson, Abruzzese, Holmberg, Steeves, etc. to get as much PK time as possible in preparation of replacing Kerfoot, NAK, ZAR, Engvall, and Kampf next year.

If these guys work together, it wouldn't shock me to see some of NAK/ZAR/Kampf back... probably more ZAR/Kampf from limited viewings. I'd agree that Kerfoot and Engvall are likely to be gone, and NAK I haven't seen enough from him, to want him back yet.

Rifai ahead of Kokkonen and Kral on the depth chart?

Weird lines and funky order imo. Hopefully Moore has a ridiculously short leash this year.

Rifai has been excellent in pre-season and the rookie camp. I think he's earned it.

I don't see the order of the lines funky at all. Shaw is a top line AHL forward. Robertson and Abruzzese are clearly top line AHL quality as well. The middle lines are also pretty much just common sense.

But yeah, Moore is on thin ice if that team struggles through the year.

This lineup seems very good in terms of depth. Defensively it's a little average maybe but still solid for the AHL.

Rifai is gonna turn some heads. Easily will get an ELC for next season.

That forward core is terrific. Prospects with a couple veterans mixed in. Moore has a lot of options in creating different looks. Defence is average but potential is good.

I can’t tell if moldenhauer has trouble finding space or if his teammates have very poor puck skills,

Nevertheless, he’s fast, usually makes the right decision, and likes to hit. Lisowsky, moldenhauer, and minten like throwing hits.

Edit: nevermind, his teammates have very average puck skills.

kallgren just got run over while in the crease and taken out of the game. not sure how the rochester player only gets 2 minutes from that.

Both Clifford and Douglas on the ice too. Good to know that these guys are preventing our players from getting hit...

lol SDA just did more to protect holmberg

The point is that they really can't do anything to prevent it, and if that is the whole purpose of being in the lineup, then they have no purpose of being in the lineup. Of course, Douglas brings a lot more value than that but Clifford does not.

It was a discussion yesterday about having those kinds of guys with the Leafs. They do nothing to prevent it from happening, and most of the time the refs get in the way before they can even hold guys accountable.

it looked worse live than on replay, but still not something you want to see happen

How did it happen?

Accidentally on purpose?

He was driving the net and just ran through the goalie. He didn't really have much space to go elsewhere and Kallgren was out of his crease a bit, but it was a penalty.

I don't think he tried to hit him, but he also didn't try to get out of the way either (which is probably a good thing... Better to hit him straight on body-to-body than to catch him awkwardly).
