I watched every game. He wasn't a physical player. He didn't really stand out offensively, which isn't surprising given his production. Is he a defensive specialist? Why was someone like him worthy of an ELC?

He was an offensive standout before the high end NHLers arrived.

how'd he do? his CHL tourny numbers look good
He had a bit of a rough one.. i switch back and forth to the frolunda game .. but goal 2 i know he would want back.. goal 4 was ugly

Goal 3 i dont remember being great either. Bit of a rough game and losing to the polish team too.. big upset by them

I do like how quiet his style seems to be..

Was hoping for Knies to play with Cooley this year but I watched a couple Gophers highlights and it looks like they are going with a top line of Pitlick-Cooley-Snuggerud. With Knies relegated to the 2nd line and likely fewer offensive zone starts we could see a dip in his production this year.

I agree I was hoping for that as well but if the WJC this summer was any indication he might be better off away from Cooley lol as long as he is on the 1st PP unit it should be fine.

Yeah, they had very little chemistry there and it felt like Cooley didnt think he needed teammates. I'm sure it will change as he grows though, phenomenal talent.

Playing on a top line is good for the stats but developmentally the second line could be better if he has to do more for himself to drive things. I like this for him

No Leafs made the U23 team, voted on in the mainboards.

Do you guys think Knies has any potential to make that team in the future?
The Main boards are a complete joke for anything related to the Leafs.

Same haters posting the same garbage, with the only objectivity is their agenda. I don't waste my time with it.

One of the main things I am looking forward to seeing this season is Knies after the collegiate hockey season is over, pulling into the Leafs lineup.

Based on his skillset, I honestly think he will make the perfect complement to the JT-Nylander line that they are lacking in Kerfoot and Malgin.

Knies can finish, he can skate, he can protect the puck, and he can win puck battles in the corners. He also looks like he has a bit of a mean streak to him, which would be welcome.

I'm really looking forward to seeing what we have with this kid. I consider him an untouchable in any trades, and would move Robertson before I consider moving Knies, just based on the rare combination of skills this kid already has, and what he could become.

Voted by bitter anti Leafs keyboard warriors? Nothing to take pride in lol
Tbh I kind of agree with the results. I don't think the Leafs have any U23 players worthy of that team.

I think K'Andre Miller is probably deserving to be in the top 6 D group.

Hoping Knies can knock someone out next year if he joins us for the playoffs and has a good showing.

I expect Robertson is going to get a lot of PK time in the AHL this year? Leafs have 5 of their 7 main PKer's contracts expiring this year. I would be pushing hard for Robertson, Anderson, Abruzzese, Holmberg, Steeves, etc. to get as much PK time as possible in preparation of replacing Kerfoot, NAK, ZAR, Engvall, and Kampf next year.

So nice to see Rodion in the building last night. You can tell how much it meant to him as well. Usually kids in his position would try and play it cool and act like that's exactly where they are supposed to be. But you could tell nothing was going to wipe the smile off Rodion's face when he was announced to the crowd. It was clearly a raw gesture of emotion and awe from Rodion. It was almost as if in a small way his dream had partly come true.

I can't imagine many players would be that happy just to be in the building, and having to train all day while their peers are hitting the ice and competing. Yet there was Rodion, smiling ear to ear, probably happier than anyone in the building. Given all he's gone through and the battle he still faces, it's truly remarkable to see where he is. Blows my mind really.

He just seems like a special kid. I won't pretend to know what he has got ahead of him, or if playing in the NHL one day is a realistic outcome. But I really believe if there is anyone out there equipped enough mentally to beat the odds, it will be Rodion. I cannot imagine how loud that building will be when he takes the ice for the first time, or scores his first NHL goal. Gives me goosebumps just thinking about it!
