Not sure if posted but that seems like the SDA era
They qualified him so they could keep his rights. Might be better for him to play a couple of seasons there and re-evaluate.

Merkley would be a good add to the Marlies imo. Maybe playing close to home again could be what he needs to figure it out in the AHL and maybe he can end up as a Klingberg type player in the NHL down the road and maybe with us. Didn't Pysyk switch to forward? I remember him coring a hatty against us and he was playing RW or am I wrong? Maybe he made the switch back but he could be a good pickup.

He's played like 7 minutes in the NHLI think we still own his rights but tbh, good riddance. This guy was a brutal turnover machine. He can be someone else's problem.
Thats harsh but not entirely accurate. He had a good year last season.I think we still own his rights but tbh, good riddance. This guy was a brutal turnover machine. He can be someone else's problem.
And 50 games in the AHLHe's played like 7 minutes in the NHL
It's very accurate. Decent skill but coughs up the puck in horrible spots. Very Gardiner-like and not in a good way. I've said this several times before.Thats harsh but not entirely accurate. He had a good year last season.
Don't see him as a good enough player to play top 6 for the Leafs, and Treliving probably wants a bigger bottom 6.
Agree to disagreeAnd 50 games in the AHL

William Lagesson? Max Lajoie? Both have played in the N and wouldn't be bad if called upon.Marlies need their Jamie Benn/Victor Mete signing don't they.
A couple guys that have played a chunk of NHL games.
A veteran guy that can slide in at the NHL level for 8-10 games if need be.

Kyle CrnkovicMarlies haven't announced it yet, but they've made what is likely most of their AHL signings for this year already.
Nothing super noteworthy. Tychonick and Cavallin probably still have the best shots of turning into something for us. There is one guy who looks clearly earmarked for a depth AHL role from the outset, but the rest look like they are going to be Growlers depth or maybe a 16th forward/9th defenseman. They are bringing back a handful of AHL contract guys from last year. Ideally, none of them should be higher than a 16th forward/9th defenseman.
Some of the guys in development camp have AHL deals already signed, but I would say the highest upside guy out of the unannounced bunch is not there. Not exactly sure why.
There will still be at least one SPC RD signing. Depending on what they do with the Russians, I wouldn't be shocked to see them add a veteran goalie either. To save contract space, they may also be looking at a high salary AHL contract at center and on RD as well (instead of handing out an SPC).
I would bet that SDA like Malgin before him will be back at some point for another tour.
I may be the last man standing, but I’d take Denis Malgin back anytime.Thank you for inspiring confidence in his future success.
Good article on the top 25 prospects for the Leafs. I don't agree at all with Grebyonkin being 16th and Tverberg 17th though... that seems low to me.
