Expect that pick to be used as a dump trade piece for Murray.
Sure thing, bud.
They got it in 2011 in the Kaberle trade but dealt it to the Ducks so the Leafs got Biggs and the Ducks ended up with Rackell. Im not sure if they would have had any Rackell interest under Burkie but the 30th and 39th they gave up could have been Saad and Jenner who were more his type.
Oof yeah, that's always been a rough one to look back at

I already posted that to buy out Murray, it would cost less than $700K next season and $2m in 24/25.

I've even re-posted it for you to see. See how nice I am? You are very welcome!

Now give the narrative a rest, or at least try harder..... :)

These hot takes need to stop.

He's on a heater, and I'd also like to see him get another shot. But too good for the AHL, no. Not close.

He's 26, he's sitting at 29 in 29.

Career at 0.61/game over 111 AHL games.
McMann probably needs to work on his conditioning. From his earlier stint it seemed like his shifts were extremely short and kind of fizzled out later in the game.

Feel like with the current injury situation + the lineup blendering that's going on, this is very much the time to give McMann a real honest shot.

Give him shifts with both top 6 lines, give him PP2 minutes, give him ample offensive zone starts. Now is the time to experiment. If we have another scoring forward in our back pocket then goddamnit I want to know sooner rather than later.

Switch back to 12 forwards and 6 defencemen. Call-up McMann and see what he can do.

Kerfoot - Matthews - Marner
Bunting - Tavares - Nylander
McMann - Lafferty - Jarnkrok
Aston Reese - Kampf - Acciari

McCabe - Brodie
Rielly - Liljegren
Giordano - Holl

We’re going to play against the defending Stanley Cup champs next game, we’ll need consistency throughout our line-up instead of blending the lines every other shift.

It would be great if Schenn was available to take out either Holl or Lilligren.

He plays right side as he’s a RHD. McCabe addition (contract also for 2+ years left) and Sandins need for minutes caused the trade.
He sat out early which set the tone for this but the minute stud zero goals against McCabe arrived he was doomed to be our 6th Dman.

Give McMann a try in the top six over Kerfoot imo.
Knies in Im afraid.

Doubt it unless no one is there at that pick they want. They will buy him out.

I wonder what next years D will look like. Only guys pencilled in seem to be:

McCabe-Brodie
Rielly-
Giordano-Timmins?

Schenn, Holl, Gustafsson all likely gone. Now I am starting question Liljegren - if they don't trust him now, will they ever?

Liljegren has earned the benefit of the doubt and should stay in the lineup. Of course, Keefe's boy will probably stay in though cause that's how it seems to go.
Do I think Holl makes stupid plays sometimes? Yeah, But I don't think he's as bad as everyone is making him out to be. I just don't think he's being used the right way and he plays to much for what he brings. Holl on the third pairing is a good spot for him and I think he's well suited for that role. If he started hitting more and being more physical that would be nice as well.

Holl is a good #6 but Keefe frequently uses him in hard matchups and treats him more like a top 4, sometimes even top pairing level usage in terms of who he faces. This is definitely the crux of the problem, especially when it comes at the expense of minutes for someone who is superior like Liljegren. Between having Liljegren, Rielly, Brodie, McCabe and Gio, there really is no purpose to having Holl get those top matchups,

So. You are saying a guy who was on the cusp of being washed out of the league and required a 3rd round pick and some retention to get rid of will now, after a relatively successful season in net, one less year on his contract, and retention already applied will cost a 1st to get rid of?

That's how logic works duh 🙄

I think the problem with Liljegren is that he's kind of like Rielly he's a puck-moving defenceman and when the game is tight with no space and the intensity and physicality picks up (which is playoff hockey) they disappear and start turning the puck over etc. because their afraid of getting hit because that style of play is the furthest thing from how they play the game. When the forechecking is good from opposing teams and the game is played on the boards or the corners they get outworked and outmuscled in the corners and lose the puck more than they gain it. This also applies when it comes time to move and clear guy's away from the front of the net which Rielly and Liljegren do not accel at.

At least Holl could hold his own on the boards and won't get outmuscled as easily, he's more physical and say what you want about Holl but he's definitely better defensively than Rielly and Liljegren. Those are things that you need come playoff time having one Rielly out there is bad enough we don't need two. I think Liljegren is better than Rielly but unless he waives his NMC Rielly isn't going anywhere so we have to use him, I'd move Rielly and use Liljegren instead but doesn't seem like that's going to happen.

If you read the main board threads he only won the award because there is a conspiracy against giving it to Freshman, even though Freshman have won in the past.
It's famously called the Big Ten Player of the Year (excluding Freshmen because we hate them) Award for a good reason
