Yer, very, very right about that, but hey, look at your like to post ratio. Zeke would have something to say abouit that right?

Ha, all good brother.

That is indeed great news. I am sure Dubas is well aware of this.

Does that poor guy even sleep?

We just need either a very large man or a minor leaguer to make an occassional save imo, our team? Leafs, way too good for the NHL.

Heck Keon would probably be on the thrid line with Nylander on this one.

Lot of italians(me included) in Toronto. Can you imagine if an EYE TIE, goaled us to a Stanley Cup.

Uhhhhh, double the ask on every house in Toronto, stop...........

Sigh
Shame for us, good for him and the Avalance.

No room with us, there is some room with Colorado since they don't have any second liners signed next year, and they will need cheap talent soon with all their prospects and Mac getting raises soon.

This is why I laugh at how we have a "cap situation", we are struggling to fit NHL-ready players on our current team, and not much will change next year.

For anybody who watches the Marlies, how has Myers looked? Is he worth a reclamation project contract?

He's been ok from what I've seen. Pretty much what you'd expect really.

He's still under contract next season with the Preds but if they buy him out, I'd easily throw him a contract. Unless of course the Leafs and Preds can do a deal around Myers for Mrazek (they might want a goaltender).

He hasn't been all that great, but he has mostly played with Kivihalme so I don't blame him too much.

Selfishly wanted Knies to come now.

This move will be better for his development (hopefully no injuries!) and we'll be getting a better player when he comes next year.

Happy for a couple of reasons:

1. I like his loyalty to his team and his hunger to win at that level

2. I like that we don't have this hype building now. The chances of him coming in and making a big top 9 impact were low. Slowly bring him along and get him onto the roster later on when he is more ready for the pressure.

Good on him, would have loved to see him play as a pro, but this is a fine decision.

The next wave of signings next year is gonna be pretty sexy: Knies, Tverberg, and Niemela….oh my.

On the heels of NickRob and Pontus and Steeves (plus) emerging next year? Fun times.

He's right though. Kivihalme isn't very good and shouldn't be playing a permanent role.
Dahlstrom - Myers
Rubins - Duszak
Kral - Hollowell

That looks like the proper top-6 of the Marlies, even if you mix up pairings. Then, there is Kivihalme, Krys and Hellickson. They are all on similar tier. I've liked Krys the best of the three. So, Kivihalme would be #8 on my depth chart.

The problem is Kivihalme starts a lot of these games on the top pairing and is used regularly ahead of the names listed above. Which puts the Marlies at a disadvantage.

The playoffs are near and the Marlies aren't guaranteed a spot yet. It would be nice if they used their main group as much as they can the rest of the way on D and into the playoffs.

We have some LW's that need more looks though. Anderson/Steeves/Robertson could all be in line for a LW spot next year depending who leaves.

I'd be shocked if Robertson, Anderson and Steeves aren't with the Leafs full time. This is why I'm not overly sad to see Mikheyev leave for a pay day because he will get paid. Only way I see Mikheyev back is if he takes a discount to stick.

I doubt all of them will make it to the NHL next year. Remember that Holmberg and Abruzzese will be in that mix too, and unlike those three, they can fill in at center.

I think there are realistically two spots available for prospects next year, and both would likely be 4th line forwards alongside a rotation of Simmonds/Spezza.

I disagree. I think all 3 are close to locks unless they really look bad in training camp, especially if they go 13 or 14 forwards and Kerfoot traded for cap relief/picks. Abruzzese is not a center and never will be at the NHL level. The big thing with him and Holmgren is that they are waiver exempt with very little NA pro experience, the other 3 have at least one full season. They will need to look amazingly good to out rank Robertson, Steeves and even Anderson.

Bunting - Matthews - Marner
Robertson - Tavares - Nylander
Engvall - Kampf - Kase (if re-signed)
Steeves - Douglas? - Simmonds
Clifford, Anderson

In the mix: Spezza (if re-signed), Abruzzese, Holmberg and likely a couple free agents signed that will likely push out someone like Clifford and Douglas.

A lot of things can change between now and then though so we'll see. But for now, this is what I envision next season shaping up to be.
