I imagine if they're going with a lefty d-man it will be either Rubins or Kivhalme ... But showcasing Duszak right now might be beneficial for his trade value.

Rielly-Brodie
Gio-Lily
Dahlstrom-Duszak

Give that top for the lions share of the workload and shelter the bottom pair.

Kivihalme is not even good enough to be in an AHL lineup right now. The only reason I can see why we are using him right now is we have injuries.

Rubins, Kral, or Dahlstrom are your options. Dahlstrom is not a bad choice given we need defensive defensemen.
Kral would be a good choice for more of a puck mover. Rubins needs more development.

Question is who can play the right side?

Dahlstrom can do LD, move Brodie over to RD. I am not sure both Lyubushkin and Holl will be out next game, but if they are, then I can see the Leafs giving Duszak a chance to showcase himself. He is fine enough in his own end to handle a few games, and we should showcase him for a reverse Menell-trade in the off-season.

Duszak is better than anything I have seen out of our LHD on their off-side anyways.

Not very up to date on the Marlies.

Can someone give me an update on their blueline and how they are doing this year?

Must not feel nice for Abbotsford to lose to their own EBUG despite him playing the entire game and having 37 shots against him...

Slight shame Mennell wanted a shot elsewhere, this could have been an opportunity for him
Yeah, I was hopeful of a steal when he arrived and had a nice camp.
Didn’t exactly distinguish himself during the season with the Marlies though.
Good test for the depth with 4(!)D hurt. I’m good with any of those top 4-5 guys getting a cup of coffee. Dahlstrom had experience, Rubins size n looked respectable mostly last time, Kral is developing well, Krys (in my limited viewings looks bright n smooth) and JoeyD has played well enough to earn a game or two and possible showcase.

Nice game for the Marlies last night. Tuned in right at the start of the 2nd. The poor EBUG really should have had only 1 get past him. 2 kind of fluky plays found the back of the net.

Robertson looked outstanding. Even the Canucks broadcast was taken aback at how dominant he was. I am not sure I have ever seen him look faster TBH. He was closing in on guys so quickly all night. He was also laying the body a lot.

First time getting to see Ovchinikov with the Marlies. He's not getting used much. Pretty sure he didn't see the ice once Abby made it 4-2 with about 10 to play. If he did play, I didn't notice him. Hard to get a read on him just yet, but I was always expecting a slower start to his AHL career. He looked to be playing with Ho-Sang and Blandisi most of the night, and like so many people have said here prior, Ho-Sang looks flashy and controls the puck a ton but nothing ever seems to come from it. Lots of perimeter play and dangling nothing. Overall that line looked good, but nothing really dangerous came from their minutes when I tuned in.

Still don't really understand the PP1 to PP2 lineups. PP1 couldn't make a f***ing pass and then PP2 comes out and just snaps it around for whatever is left remaining. I really cannot make any sense of Robertson being on PP2 at this point. You'd have to be certifiably blind to think he doesn't give you a better chance at winning being on PP1. It amazes me how some people (Greg Moore) make a living to make these type of decisions and cannot see what is so blatantly obvious.

It's like when Babcock refused to put one of the best passers in the NHL (Marner) on the same line as the best goal scorer in the game (Matthews). f***ing mind numbing

Glad to see Peksa win round 2, he's starting most of the games with Akhtyamov as his backup.

Lmao at Peksa becoming our saviour right now.

Kids looking real good though, let’s not rush him and ruin his development.

Thanks fir the excellent summary. Cheers

Kallgren and Hutchinson are both healthy for now, and Campbell should be back soon. Not worried about the Leafs.

The Marlies are more of a mess. Hutton and Woll are injured. Petruzzelli should be fine soon but who knows with Scott at this point.

The Russian goalies can't come here fast enough, even if they wanted to and we wanted them.

It is too bad that there are not too many AHL contract options available yet since we can't access anyone out of the CHL (although outside of Luke Cavallin, I am not sure there are too many great ones from there either). Even if we have Kallgren, Scott, Woll, and Petruzzelli in the minors next year, the Growlers need goalies now and will need them next year too.

there are 4 NCAA goalies of note that are available 3 will likely get NHL deals and the other may get one but likely an AHL contract to start
