Great D+1 so far, but it's basically the bare minimum expectation for Voit. He's going to have to absolutely crush the OHL this season + next for him to become a legit prospect with his size/strength concerns. Much like Abruzzese in that sense.
He basically has no support on a garbage team and has to generate everything himself. He likely needs to get traded to a better team if you want to see the gaudy point totals.

His development has been impressive after a lost year.

I was stoked with the Voit pick when we made it. It just seemed like a calculated risk that was so worth it in the 5th round. Rarely can you find that level of potential in those late rounds. Sure there were undeniable question marks that resulted in him falling to that 5th round, but it was just tremendous value where we selected him. Early indications would suggest this is a slam dunk pick.

He still has a lot of work to do before I confidently can say I see NHL in his future.

I was a little disappointed with his development camp this year TBH. I knew he was one of the younger attendees, and certainly one of the smallest, but he really looked out of place at that tournament IMO. He just looked incredibly hesitant the entire camp. I started to see why he had fell to the 5th.

But ever since then, my expectations of Ty have been exceeded 10 fold. He is having an outstanding year on a very poor team. To have as many points as he does, and almost all of them being primary is truly remarkable. I can't remember the last player I have seen in any league with that high of a percentage of primary pts. It is jaw dropping TBH. It's the thing that stands out the most to me.

I am actually looking forward to Ty going back to junior next season. I think having a dominant season with the sting will give him that boost of confidence that every player needs

anyone got any news on Tverberg? looks like he is in a decent little slump after coming back from the WJC camp.

looks like only 2pts in his last 10GP.

Mental let down with the cut? Might have a chance in the summer to make it if some others drop out.

Maybe, or maybe he was on a heater early, and now not so much?
Hope he picks it up, I love greasy two-way energy guys.

I would assume you will see teams replace missing players with 17 or 18 year olds they will take the chance to get a look at for next years tournament.

Canada? Probably not so much, goal will always be to win a medal with best team possible, if they aren't the best at the time, they can try again.

There are some pretty unbelievable talents performing at a pretty high level from the 2023 draft. I don't think they would be sacrificing a chance to win by adding a Yager to the team.

It is an amazing draft for forwards.

Terrible draft for defense and some solid entries for goalies but average at best overall. Theo Lindstein, Cameron Allen, and Lukas Dragicevic are likely the top defensemen in that draft, and none of them look like top 10 talents. Maybe they can be top 15.

It’s just hard to get excited about anything our prospects do in the MHL. It’s such low level competition.
Agreed.

I am pretty sure the average S% in that league is like .930

I also got my hopes up with Artur Akhtyamov last year, and he came back down to earth when he move up to a shittier VHL squad. He has since steadied the ship, but it was a very rough start to the year.

I do think that between Peksa and Akhtyamov that we may have an NHL goalie in one of them down the line. Our scouting staff clearly has faith in Kazan's goaltending development, and I have complete faith in our scouting staff, so nothing would really surprise me in the end.

I guess its still better to be playing the way Peksa is now. Nothing wrong with dominating when you should dominate.

I will say though, Peksa seems to be one of the few workhorses of the MHL. Looks like a lot of teams split the cage. Peksa's numbers are stacking up quite well among even those with less than half the amount of starts.

not to mention the goalies listed ahead of him on this list all play for much better teams with respect to the MHL standings. which makes a massive difference in these type of leagues.

for example, If you look at Florida Panther draft pick Kirill Gerasimyuk, who is ranked 3rd in the MHL SV%, He seems to have really benefitted from a change of scenery to SKA during this year

He looks to have played on 2 teams this year, and the stats could not be further away from one another. It just kind of illustrates how different playing for 1 team may be vs. the another in this league, and in Russia in general. The difference from top team to middle team is massive

I think that's also why I am not overly low on Akhtyamov's less than eye popping numbers this year. They seem to be a middle of the pack team, and maybe thats why Artur has middle of the pack numbers

Marner was terrible in his first pro camp as well. He was afraid to hold onto the puck and either dumped it or gave it to someone else every chance he could. It's likely just nerves of a small kid playing with men.

Probably has something to do with not playing for a full year outside of one makeshift tournament where he played like 10 games against a bunch of other guys who hadn't played for a full year.

Good to see Peksa getting lots of games, definitely a workhouse, seems like he plays every game for his team. Really hope he gets out of the MHL next year though, he needs to see some better competition. But he's currently blocked by Akhtyamov and several other goalies in Kazan's pecking order.

Ya that's pretty well how I chalked it up as well. It was unimpressive, but totally expected. I am super interested to see how he fairs next camp. I'm sure getting an ELC and having a strong year is going to go straight to his head in all the right ways.

Yup I completely remember that as well. That's why I didn't freak out. I've ben extremely happy with his development thus far

Plus Canada will want those players available for the Ivan Hilinka U18 tournament

I haven't watched much of Kressler this year but looks like he's been a bit of a disappointment.

There's a few prospects they missed out on by not signing them while they had them at their prospect camps. The big one that comes to mind is Egor Sokolov who has done very well with the Sens org and already has gotten some NHL games.

I think he was a fine prospect to sign and take a chance on, even if he never pans out to be more than a depth AHL player. Kressler is still OHL eligible for 2 more seasons... he's really young. I'd like to see what he could do away from Flint.

Who did you have in mind from camp? I liked Theo Rochette at the time but for some reason he didn't even make it to the showcase team.

Tucker Robertson wasn't at the camp but that would have been a masterclass in scouting if they had managed to sign him. Likely to be a late 1st/2nd round pick in the upcoming draft.

I think Kressler was an easy decision. He impressed a lot and he's pretty young. He didn't play most of his draft year, so there was a lot of interesting potential there. I can't remember everyone that were at the recent camps but he definitely was my top player to sign to an ELC in the recent one. Can't sign everyone though.

Robertson had a great start to the year... 34 points in his first 17 games, but then 14 points in his last 20 games... he's really slowed down....
