Grebyonkin didn't sign an extension at the last window right? I have to imagine the goal is to get him over here.

Love them or hate them the Hunters they just produce NHL players iam so happy dubas is gone

Since they've been part of the organization in 02. They've made 5 finals, won 3 times, made numerous semi finals, have 12 division titles, and have never missed the playoffs.

In terms of development, here's a list of all of the guys that they have drafted or acquired at 16, that have developed into NHL players...

Players with over 50 NHL games & either drafted by London or traded for + developed since age 16....

Forwards:
Corey Perry, Dave Bolland, Brandon Prust, Sergei Kostitsyn, Sam Gagner, Patrick Maroon, Philip Varone, Seth Griffith, Vladimir Namestnikov, Chris Tierney, Max Domi, Bo Horvat, Josh Anderson, Remi Elie, Michael McCarron, Christian Dvorak, Mitch Marner, Matthew Tkachuk, Max Jones, Robert Thomas, Janne Kuokkanen, Alex Formenton, Liam Foudy, Connor McMichael, Paul Cotter, Luke Evangelista

Defenceman
Marc Methot, Danny Syvret, John Carlson, Scott Harrington, Jarred Tinordi, Olli Maatta, Nikita Zadorov, Dakota Mermis, Victor Mete, Evan Bouchard, Adam Boqvist,

Goalies
Steve Mason, Michael Hutchinson, Anthony Stolarz,

They've also had guys like Nazem Kadri, John Tavares, Dennis Wideman, Michael Del Zotto, etc join them for 1-2 runs.

Genuinely incredible.

They don't give ice away to anyone you need to learn to play the right way first

Prust turned out to be a really good player bottom 6

Kadri was benched a few times even though they traded for him

Chris tierney didn't shine until after his draft yr

With the hunters you can't just go of there draft yr unless they are exceptional marner

Goaltending they have never had a good read on

Any london player in the NHL draft you really need to watch them.

Defense is even tougher to crack that's why I want the Leafs to keep an eye on Wooley big 6'4" 215 lbs can skate and hit

That's why what Cowen did last yr was amazing and uam so glad the Leafs drafted him.

I was surprised that he didn't drafted Robert Thomas and the forward thinking that we needed dman.

Iam from london watch them all the time

I guess they don't play out by the 401 anymore?

When's the point where we can start letting ourselves getting excited about the state of the prospect pool?

Cowan continues his meteoric rise, is looking more and more everyday like a Johnston/Konecny level prospect

Grebyonkin is showing last year wasn't a mirage created with gift minutes on a cellar dweller and is looking like a Buchnevich/Voronkov/Marchenko level prospect

Minten has 9 points in 5 games, +8, 61% at the dot in 5 games since getting back from the WJC's

Tvergberg is having a fantastic rookie pro year (4th in rookie pts/game)
Niemela is having a fantastic 1st full year in NA (quietly top 20 in defensive scoring)
Hildeby an allstar and top 10 in save %
6'4 Noah Chadwick putting up .9 points per game in his U19 in the W
Ahktyamov showing strong KHL starter ability

Our scouting has been very impressive over the past few years especially if you factor in where we picked alot of our players.

The offensive depth is very strong, the goaltending is starting to look good it's just now that we need to find some more quality defencemen.

Interested to see what Wes Clark does with our 9 picks this year .. he hasn't had a lot of draft capital to leverage so far but his early results are promising.

I am fairly sure that the Cowan, Grebyonkin, and Minten are NHL players within 2 years at most... 2025-2026 season. This is why I would be apprehensive giving out more long term contracts to forwards. There will have to be nhl roster spots available for them.

Worse case scenario, 1 of the 3 does not live up to their potential, and you end up with only 2 top 9 forwards. But that is still 2 top 9 forward roster spots that need to be available.

I would pump the brakes a little on this - definitely not a foregone conclusion that we get at least two top 9 forwards out of that crop. They're all developing well but there's still a lot that has to go right for a young player not drafted in the top 20 to develop into an impact forward. I'm definitely hopeful, but I wouldn't go that far just yet.

I'm not sure anyone is writing it in ink, but Minten already played in the NHL (although not sure why), Grebenkin is tracking way beyond expectations, and Cowan looks like he should have been much much higher.

Cowan leading OHL in Points per Game.
If he isn't tracking in that direction, then not much hope for the rest of the drafted players in the OHL.

Cowan, Minten, and Grebyonkin have good potential to provide excellent ELC value.

And then factoring in Knies, Holmberg, and Robertson, there is a lot of potential cheap quality forwards salary wise in the next 4-5 years to round out a top 9.

Definitely need to keep stocking and build up the D prospect pool, but there is potential to spend more cap on defense with these ELC's coming up.

Yep you're right he's now leading the OHL with a 1.83pts/G

This is the top 5 for PTS/G

He's also leading the league in shorthanded points scored with 9, both he and Barkey are way in front in that stat.

Marlies won yesterday too 5-2. Hildeby stopped 24 of 26 shots. Tverberg 1g, Steeves 1g 1a, Abruzzses 1a.
It may make sense to bring up Steeves, and give Knies some games with the Marlies to get his game back. He looks a bit lost at the moment.

Joes been quietly on the ascension since his draft year. Still has a ways to go, but is giving us everything you could ask for from a 6th round pick

Eh. He's the same age as Tverberg and picked before, in what should be his senior year. At least he's not Schingoethe.

Maybe more if we trade our UFA's at the deadline.
I'm thinking more and more that we should view this year as a reset - especially since we have Willie and Matthews re-signed so our competitive window is not closing. Move out Bertuzzi, maybe Domi as well, and Brodie if he has a market. Let's restock the prospect larder, and use the off season to sort out our D and depth forwards.
