It was a joke.

Since he was on such a pathetic Canadian team, like Minten and Cowan, maybe he should just opt out and pursue a career as a dentist.
Ti agree .Cowan and minten took too much flak on here
Passing up shots or not passing to open men on 2 on1s etc killed canada
Inviting NHL players is fine
But the kid really doesn't wanna be there plus having to worry about losing his nhl job

Fun fact that I didn’t know I needed to know until now.

Dylan Grambell has played more nhl games from his draft than
Carter Hart
Ross Colton
Noah Gregor
Andrew Peeke
Jake Bean
Carl Grundstrom

and before this season had more games than
Hagel
Max Jones
and Trent Frederic

Thats all the useless trivia I have for now :)

What do you guys think of Keiffer Bellows from the Marlies?

I say the Leafs sign him to a contract

Cowan wasn’t on for a goal against at the WJC.

I think he was the only player that can say that.
Not really sure why everyone is getting worked up about Cowan (maybe not here but main boards, etc)

Every single year, people get worked up about so and so not getting enough mins or playing well and it's almost always the 18 year olds.

It's a 19 year old's tournament.

Cowan will have a bigger role and bigger impact next year along with Yager, Wood, Bonk and Rehkopf.

I mean you don't even have to look much further than Knies.

He played for USA at the 2022 WJC and had 0 goals scored in 5 games played.

Hate to be that guy but when a Leaf prospect underperforms the usual suspects pile on in the main boards.

Probably some Leaf fans rushing to defend.

Oh I know, but just crusing twitter as well and what not it seems to be piling on Minten and Cowan. Same thing though, Leafs prospects ... well, and players get just crucified by the rest of the hockey world.

One thing for sure. We're really going to need both Minten and Cowan in the years to come.

Was going through the hockeydb stats of all of our prospects. Man are we thin. We're even thin on middling to dark horse prospects who you could hold out hope for. Russian players like Kizimov and Kara who were most likely never going to come over but who were interesting to stat follow just in case have taken multiple steps back. Holmberg whose ceiling is low but floor was considered high showed flashes last year that he hasn't this year. SDA started strong, but really slowed down.

A player like Joe Miller had an...okay stat line last year but this year it's no better. Miettinen had a real solid freshman year and all 3 years since then haven't looked much different. Haven't heard much about Villeneuve this year - would have thought his play this year would tell us he's knocking on the door for an injury call up.

Can Voit handle pro physical hockey?

You would hope someone like Lisowsky is knocking on 100 points as an overeager, just to tell you that they're good enough to move into pro.

Moldenhauer is in what should be is software year, he's 9th or 10th in scoring.

Don't get me wrong - these guys were always going to be long shots. But usually you can retain some dark horse hope for a lot longer when they fool you with impressive stats from simply getting older in a league that they outgrow.

Am I the only one who feels this way?

You could do that for any team, list off their late round picks that arnt looking promising. You conveniently left out guys like Niemela, Grebyonkin, Cowan, Minten, Chadwick, Hildeby.

You've discussed the guys who aren't excelling for sure.

Grebenkin has 23 points in 48 games in the KHL. He's likely going to have a top 20 all time high scoring, for 20 year olds in the KHL.

Minten has been decent, and Cowan has excelled. Hildeby has been excellent. Chadwick is near PPG, as a 6'4" Dman.

Voit was a fluke injury... way too soon to really determine much about him.

I'll add another, Niemela seems to have had a great start in North America.

Not everyone is cut out for IT work.

There isn’t much in the junior ranks but there is at higher levels who have made the Marlies jump:

Tverberg, Kokkonen, Ovchinnikov, Villeneuve, Abruzzese

Whole bunch of undersized players here. Maybe they've grown?

Can anyone with eyes on them explain Miettinen and Ovchinnikov's Cy Young seasons?
Are they getting unlucky on the assist front, or lucky on the goal front?

If either was piling up assists at their usual rate (relative to goals) we'd be talking about them very differently, very impressive goal numbers being overshadowed by med point totals.
