Are Leafs and Marlies going to have a new ECHL next season?.

They will likely find a new partnership like they had with the Solar Bears before switching to the Growlers. They will likely just find loans if they want/need to assign AHL level players to the ECHL.

This is genuinely terrible news
I get business is business, but I'm disappointed MLSE didn't swoop in or at the very least the league couldn't run them to finish the season
Mid-season folds are embarrassing

Yeah I dunno how that stuff works but I agree, it's a big shame. MLSE has plenty of money to do that to at least finish the season.

Wonder what this means for Peksa's season, the Marlies are pretty crowded

They will probably loan off whatever players they can and just let them practice with the Marlies/support staff. I assume some of the lower players on AHL deals might even be sent home early since the season was pretty much towards the end anyway.

The players signed to NHL/AHL contracts are not eligible for the playoffs on another team.

Quillan is 6'0, 201 pounds? He must be built like a tank with that compact BMI. For comparison, Brenden Morrow was 6'0 205 pounds.

I've never seen Quillan play but if the reports are true about his skating, compete, skill and defense, he would fit really well on our energy line with McMann and Knies or even on a checking line in place of Kampf.

With Quillan signed does that affect any of the expiring rights for some of there recent draft picks? I don’t think they’ll sign miettinen or lisowsky.

Very impressive to score at the pace Cowan did and also be voted by the coaches as one of the best defensive forwards.

For comparisons sake, here's the other nominated players point totals on the season.

Easton Cowan 96pts
Liam Arnsby 34pts
Cole Beaudoin 62pts
Luke Torrance 41ps
Matyas Sapovaliv 62pts
Owen Allard 44pts

Cowan tied for first in SHG in the O this year .. with his teammate

Another one of Dubas' brilliant ideas down the drain.

Maybe it's best if the whole ECHL folds anyway. Most of those guys would be better off in Europe. If the agreement between the OHL isn't eliminated the ECHL will always remain a league of never-wases and never-will-be's.

You're not developing much in a league full of players twenty and over who aren't even good enough for the AHL.

For what it's worth I think it's a shame ML$E didn't step up and put their money where their mouth is. This is a 320lb Homer Simpson in a mumu crossing a high wire level of embarassing comedy. They just uprooted their own prospects and lost their development team after only four years.

But I'm used to the hypocrisy by now.
