Not surprised at this point. Hope we progresses well and has a great playoff, perhaps even suiting up for the Ice Caps in the Spring.

At least they made their decision. Probably the correct one since they didnt really use him properly when he was here.

:handclap: They way they used him here this season was flat out strange, incidently his last game was his best game. Wellwood brings as much anyway!:sarcasm:

With Scheifele sent back down, I'd like to hear an update about Miettinens injury. Also call Machacek up. With Wright playing, we only have Peluso outside our lineup. That's not enough considering Wright, Thorburn, Poni, Wellwood and Slater haven't been playing that brosomelyawesomeepic.

I think he is ready or very close to it. He was sent down more because of our team needs, or lack of. The top 9 is pretty full. But we do lack depth, if we have injuries I can see Scheifele coming back. Don't forget Miettenen is available as well.

Well now that his fate has been sealed for this season, I personally am hoping he can use this time to put on some muscle and get stronger for the next season.

Safely I think we can all agree he'll be on the Jets long term roster next year and I would like to see him use this time to get a little bigger.

I'm excited to see how Barrie can do in the playoffs. I think they definitely have a squad powerful enough to make a memorial cup run.

Looking forward to see what kind of enthusiasm he can bring to being sent back.

Probably the best decision. Good thing now is that Scheifele himself knows what level he needs to be at by next fall. At least next year if he's not quite there he can learn the ropes of the pro game in St. John's.

Instead of him getting bigger than 195, I'd rather hope for some miracle that he gets in with Roberts this upcoming offseason.

EDIT: Not to be confused with "gets it in"

No surprise. If your not going to play him, send him back. Better to be playing in the OHL than sitting eating popcorn in the press box.

As long as they tell him exactly WHY they are sending him back and what he needs to improve on, then fine, but if they just tell him to go back without an explanation, then there is something wrong.

I know Roberts runs a good program, but it is so overrated.

There are plenty of fantastic programs out there. Roberts gets well deserved publicity, but the hype surrounding it is very ridiculous.

Good about time, now a full year in St John's learning the the pro game next year and then we think of bringing him up for 2014/2015.

Can someone clarify if we can even call him back. I'm not sure about that....

We cannot.

Don't mind sending him to Barrie. He'll be here next year I think. Gagnon on waivers too, probably to come up as a 14th forward.

Thank god we saved all that money by not burning a year of his ELC!!! With this and the $346 we saved by not re-signing Tanner Glass, we'll have bundles to give away to Moose alumni like Jason Jaffray, Fedor Federov and Sean Pronger.

I hope they had him ironing Clitsome's suits and/or washing cars at Birchwood Honda while he was here. We didn't have him up for development, thats for sure.

So overrated?

People preach it like it's the be all and end all of programs. It's good don't get me wrong, but people think if their player goes there they will improve exponentially.

A players own improvement is really up to them. Roberts runs a good camp, but players can improve just as much or more elsewhere.

People just bring it up ad nauseum is all.

Maybe I'm naive, but I don't think his life has been 'eating popcorn in the press box' the last 2 weeks.

I personally see some benefit to him being here in Winnipeg, being around the trainers and coaches, practicing in the big leagues, getting another taste of what to expect for when he makes it.

I think if it wasn't such a shortened and urgent season, he probably would have been played more consistently, but it is what it is.

I wish he would have just been given the first 4-5 games personally. But I don't know if I'd consider the way things turned out to be a waste.
