Points this season with cap hit % when contract signed

MacKinnon - 88pts - 8.6%
Barkov - 88pts - 8.3%
Kadri - 87pts - 6.3%
Reinhart - 82pts - 8.0%
Lindholm - 82pts - 6.1%
Zibanejab - 81pts - 7.1%
Scheifele - 70pts - 8.4%
How did you pick these players to compare? It seems pretty random. Also, man Kadri had a good year haha

I mean he was pissed off and didn't say anything after the 2019 underachievment and his play plummeted since then. He really doesn't have much resiliency if one underacheiement totally got him off track.

It's really hard to understand wtf happened with him. He went from having a decent amount of self awareness when he was breaking in to absolutely none now.
We are also just trying to understand him based on him speaking to the media (and hockey players give notoriously bland and uninformative answers). Maybe he is really way more open with where he's at and down to earth about his issues with his friends, family and teammates and doesn't want to speak publicly about things. That's certainly what I would prefer if I was some sort of public figure.

Who knows, his play on the ice and his demeanor seems to back those comments up so who really knows. He certainly hasn't carried himself as someone who knows they have areas of their game they need to improve.

Didn't he specifically say he has areas he needs to improve in his exit interview? I'm pretty sure he did

A pretty perfect example of why you can't just use total points if you want to do a comparison and really need to show points per game played or maybe points per minute.

MacKinnon had 88 points in 65 games. Scheifele had 70 points in 67 games. Lindholm had 82 points in 82 games. Zib had 81 points in 81 games but next season his percent of cap jumps to 10.43%. Barkov jumps to 12.27% next season when his extension kicks in.

I'm guessing you were just grabbing Cs that put up at least 1 point per game and showing the percent of cap when their contract was signed to show that Scheifele is a deal, but there are other deals out there as well and also to point out that to extend a guy like him you may be talking 10+% of your caphit now instead of 8.4% when he signed.

Scheif is the 12th best scoring C on a points per game played basis in a season where he started super slow and then rebounded slowly from COVID as well.

Patrick threw a couple of players (Eakin and Hayes) under the bus a bit there. That being said I wouldn’t be suprised if that is what was said its pretty obvious the Jets dressing room is a mess.

I'm still not sure what he meant by half the room follows. Does that mean there is a divide where half the room follows Mark and Blake or does it mean half follow Mark and half follow Blake.

Well we seemingly now have three players saying Mark and Blake are the issue. Personally think both should be shown the door at this point.

Yea I am not sure about that divided in half part? I wouldn’t be surised if players shared that our locker room was a mess though. All the signs were there from Hendricks being brought in right up to the interviews that came out at the end of this season. I guess it is what it is and the fact its more out now is a good thing.

I'm not sure how we could possibly bring Bpake back as the C. He's looking more and more like an absolute shit leader.
