Scheifele and a 1st for Nelson and Dobson.

Gives us a phyiscial C/W vet to help Cole adapt to the second line center spot.

Also gives us that big Young RD with top pairing upside to play with JoMo.

Ottawa essentially got nothing out of that trade. They acquired Chaisson who was just starting his NHL career and was looking decent, 2 prospects in Nick Paul and Alex Guptill who I would say were B+ level prospects and a 2nd round pick which eventually turned into a guy that never panned out.

I think there are 2 teams that this off season will be asking about Scheif. I think both Ottawa and Buffalo will be checking in. Both have cap room and a ton of youth that they built up around but they both lack a real impact top Center for their current team. Both have a real good young Center in Cozens and Norris but I think adding a Scheif would be ideal for them.

I mean Stone is likely worth more then Mark on his own. Plus he just a full NMC and wasn't interested in signing Herr a few years ago so doubt he's an option. Would look great here though if his back is OK.
 
Gonna sell my authentic heritage jersey of his. Used to be my favourite Jet, but his effort these past few seasons have left me feeling pretty sour.

Really hope Chevy is looking to find a good trade deal for him in the off-season.

How about Scheifele and a 2024 3rd to the Rangers for Alexis Lafreniere, Brennan Othmann and NYR 2023 1st.

you think you are going to get PPG center value out of a top 15 pick? That’s absolutely ridiculous.

there is a segment of the Jet fan base that has lost their minds.

The Jets have a PPG center making 2C money. You can’t get much better value than that. How about we get a coach who just uses Scheifele properly?

I wonder if Shuffles psyche turns this around eg, does he get discouraged by others' success and goes into a decline..? That would really suck, and I hope I'm wrong.

I mean its not likely - > as his defensive decline has occurred over a number of years, but still...

Mort, the bolded is what I'm thinking. I am of the mind that if he is placed with the right coach on a different team, the culture is just so, that he has the skills to morph back to elite Scheif. Perhaps not an elite 200 foot guy, but someone who can pull an entire team and not hurt them too much.

In other words, his woes are 80% causal to his specific psychology. This is an absolute barn-find '67 split window Vette of a trade for some team. :)

scheif is in his prime right now... if he played with purpose he has the talent to be a 100 point player. Its really sad and frustrating to see...and its even more frustrating that the jets organization continues to turn a blind eye to it.

I'm not sure what you are arguing here. I am saying a top 15 pick coupled with Mark is fair value for a physical top 6 C/W in Nelson and a young 22 year old 6"4 right shot dmen that is tracking towards being a number 1 dmen.

That fills two holes for this team and Dobson fits the age range of the young core and Nelson is another member of the Minnesota mafia so should fit in the room with Wheeler, Schmidt etc.

I’m assuming Dobson would be an untouchable for the Isles.

I think our best return in the Scheifele deal will be possibly a 1-for-1 type trade for a guy looking for a change of scenery like Barzal.

Like in the Laine trade, we traded the better player but got a still good player like Dubois who fits our window and fills a hole.

Scheifele trade could be similar. We trade the better player (Scheifele) but get someone who fits the new core better/fills a hole in the new core.

Not sure if he would be or not with Poluck signed there long term but you never know.

This. I thought he was hot garbage last night but still got 2 assists.

You have to be pretty spectacularly bad or lazy defensively to be a ppg guy and still be a net negative when you're on the ice.

I'm ready for any decent offer.

I have not caught some of his pressers .Does any one know if a any member of the media asked Scheifele specifically about his slow skating back checks? You can phrase that directly but respectfully . Even if he gives a tell nothing response just body language could still be telling. I would be shocked if noone has brought it up. Has anyone asked Lowry,?

You would think the apparently lack of effort from a leadership -group core player would be a talking point between the media and the team
