@frozenroyalty: FWIW…Matt Frattin is on the ice for #LAKings practice.

So, Bernier has turned into a Gaborik rental and the pick we got for Scrivens? Is that right? Thoughts?

Bernier was a luxury the Kings could no longer afford. He was a RFA, a backup, and Quick was locked in for the long term. Everyone knew Bernier had to go, and whatever the Kings were able to get was good enough.

Lololol I wonder what Leafs fans think now after one can get a player of Gaborik's calibre for Frattin.

I thought Dean said something like it's bad to fleece other teams cause other GM's would hesitate to deal with you. If he's right, he shouldn't be able to get any deal done from now on.

So now you Bernier pole smokers can add Gaborik to the list of things acquired in that deal.

I think the idea will be to keep Gabby/Kopi and Carter/Richards together.

It's a big IF, but if somehow Gaborik and Richards can play like they did even two years ago the Kings suddenly have a really dangerous lineup. There is no reason they can't, they will be playing with Kopitar and Carter respectfully.

I'd like to see...

Brown - Kopitar - Gaborik
King - Richards - Carter
Toffoli - Stoll - Williams
Lewis - Vey - Nolan

Posted in haste. Meant to say Gaborik - Kopitar - Carter on the power play. That's insane.

Only concern is that there's about a 75% chance he'll hit IR before the playoffs. If he can stay healthy, great, but when was the last time that happened? And he hasn't even been playing in the west.

He played a full season in 2011-2012.

Wonder what the condition is on the second pick. Cup? Re-sign?

I'd assume games played.

Love the deal, I want to watch an exciting Kings team play exciting hockey. The top 9 with Gaborik looks a lot better and teams will have a lot harder time matching lines which is why the Kings are effective. Not too many teams can roll out a top 9. Not too many teams have 2 snipers like Gaborik or Carter either.

I don't want to break up the current first line so it will be interesting to see where Gaborik slots in.

I would give Pearson the opportunity to continue playing with Richards/Carter since he is a natural LW, move Brown over to LW with Stoll and Gaborik at RW.

My main hope for Gaborik is power play scoring.

Love the deal man. Gave up nothing pretty much.

@frozenroyalty: Sutter just came out of the dressing room to tell Frattin that he’s been traded. #LAKings

I agree that Bernier had to go, they had to trade him. The disappointing thing was Frattin was a guy that management specifically targeted and he was absolutely horrible from day 1.

They salvaged him at the end for a Gaborik rental, but he was a massive flop.

probably our 3rd not edms.also dont think gaborik will be a pure rental,if he performs dl will most likely re sign him.

Gaborik gets us nearly to the Sharks (league best) level top 9. Now if DL manages to get Ehrhoff

The Kings didn't trade for Gaborik to play him with Stoll.

He will be with either Kopitar or Richards. Everyone seems to think he is for sure with Kopi, but they could play Gaborik with Richards and Brown for example, that could be a really nice 2nd line and then lets our two best players do their thing on line 1.

The only downside to the deal is if Gaborik gets hurt. If he gets hurt, then you have the same lineup that the Kings had yesterday since Frattin wasn't much of a factor unfortunately.

Defensive liability or no, I'm hesitant to break up Carter/Richards, especially after the Olympic break... they just have chemistry on the ice for scoring, and that's the element that was SORELY missing during the 21-game pre-Olympic debacle. JMO, of course.

If Carter can produce from the left side, Brown gets his playoff legs going, and the D holds up, this could be a useful deal. Still not comfortable with Muzzin/Doughty--missing Scuderi's minutes, none of the SAH guys can carry 20+ minutes in a late-round series.

Carter/Kopi/Gaborik
Brown/Richards/Williams
King/Stoll/Toffoli
Clifford/Lewis/Nolan
Pearson/Vey

Doughty/Muzzin
Voynov/Mitchell
Greene/Regher

He is playing 3rd line on CBJ so you never know :sarcasm:

Williams has looked great being reunited with Kopitar, while Toffoli has looked pretty dangerous as well.

He played well briefly, but I don't like a world where Dwight King is in my Top-6.

Who is the LW in your above scenario?

73-11-77
23-10-Gaborik
74-28-14
71-57-22

I think I can take that.
