I understand, but if he has some injury bugs with us, while doing very well with us when he plays, I see a short contract extension, with a possibility to trade for a decent return, who knows. This is LA, best doctors in the US. Hoping he suffers no injuries and plays great.
 
Dean's slowly building a good reputation for himself as a GM with integrity and a player friendly GM. So, if Lombardi re-signed Gabby to a 2 yr extension, I'm pretty certain he'll honor it, and not treat him like a tradeable asset, especially with a player like Gabby.
 
Absolutely love Gaborik, very happy that Dean got him instead of Vanek or Moulson. Hope he re-signs after the season too.
 
Frankly, if he just scores 3 goals and 7 points for us then he exceeds Frattin's production all year! This is regardless if he's in the lineup or not due to a coaching decision or injury. He is an upgrade in skill at every level too. You have to respect his speed and shot. This will probably buy an extra foot of ice and about an extra half second for everyone else on the ice with him to make a play. He can help with zone entries on the power play. This is a win-win. Good job dean!

From what I understand, that's why Dean went with Gaborik, because the chances of signing him are a lot greater than the chances of signing Moulson or Vanek. Columbus also gave Dean permission to talk to his agent before the deal was done.

Is anyone else but me drooling over a #1 p.p. unit of Kopi, Gaborik, Carter, Doughty and Richards?

Is everyone still happy with this is if Gaborik doesn't meet expectations? It's good everyone is thinking positive about it, expecting the very best. But let's be realistic, that's a possibility. Just wondering.

Cautiously optimistic. If he can bring balance to the force I'll be happy. Hoping for Demitra 2.0

If you have that mentality as a GM in the NHL, you would never make a trade and never attempt to improve your team.

So what if Frattin plays well in Columbus, he sucked as a King.

I thought about it right away actually and got excited for like a second and then I was like ummmm yeah right we still stink. Kopi, Carter, Doughty and Richards alone should be ridiculous already but we aint. Gaboriks not gonna make a difference this team just stinks on the powerplay.
