Wouldn't it be nice if FLA can't re-sign Ekblad so they Raantanan and move him to the Jets to fulfill the Maurice quote and help the Jets win the cup?

What's the acquisition cost of Ekblad realistically?

It's that time of year friends. Athletic player survey, no one will ever take our trophy.

Three quotes about us, the bad food is kind of suprising:

“There’s not much to do out there,” one player said. “It’s f—ing cold. I haven’t heard a guy go to Winnipeg and be like, 'This is going to be my forever home.’”

"Nothing to do, bad food, freezing,” another said.

Here’s one Jets player’s defense of his city, noting that the drive from the airport to downtown isn’t exactly the scenic route: “I remember when I first did it, it was underwhelming. There are parts of the city that are great, but you don't see that (as a visiting player). I always wish that they'd stay down at the Forks or somewhere like that. I don't think that hotel meets the criteria for the league, but it would be better than staying downtown."
i don't agree with bad food but i do think it is a bit overhyped. this poll is relative to cities/states like LA/Cali, NY/tri-state, MTL, TOR, VAN, NSH, Florida etc. the food here is solid, but compared to some of those cities i don't think it is anything out of the ordinary or noteworthy.
Looks Like Pionk is the best one of that bunch, still.

Hopefully he can stick. Him and Samberg have chemistry together.
samberg has really elevated that pairing. his play this year has been v good. wanted to see him a bit consistently & performing well in a top-4 role, and he's done just that + more.

I've said it before and ill harp on it again - Monahan and Toffoli last year did nothing but mess with our chemistry. I think Arniel sees how dynamic our lineup is and hopefully keeps this apparent to Chevy. I wouldn't mind a 2C but at this point I'm leaning more towards "Don't fix what aint broken" because if we trade a first + a prospect for another 2C and the chemistry isn't there we are shooting ourselves in the foot.

2nd line in the past 6 games:
67.5 HDCF%
66% xGF%
60 SCF%

Only thing I want before the deadline is a d man.

Ryan Lindgren sucks. Ask any Ranger fan. Terrible in his own end, terrible on the PK, generates minimal offense, makes $4.5M this season. Why would we want him? What do you see in him?

Career playoff GP means nothing to me. By that logic we should go after Pat Maroon with 163 GP and three cups then?
Agree with you in regards to using team stats on a player without context. If you're a player driving the bus it can be useful, but means very little when you're sitting at the back. If that wasn't the case, Charlie Huddy would be talked about in hushed tones for how amazing he was.

Yeah, that bunch doesn't scream $10M AAV. Big deal. That doesn't preclude Chevy trying to trade for a big-dollar top-2 D, or a good 2C, or preferring any number of moves before giving Ehlers $8M. Maybe he simply doesn't want to give him Scheifele and Helly dollars. All kinds of reasons Chevy might have for not signing Ehlers to a mega contract, and that doesn't even get around to the reasons Ehlers could have for wanting to go elsewhere.

I figure Ehlers is somewhere around 60% gone, 40% returning. Maybe 65-35.

Your post in the Ehlers thread.

My guess is GMs will be falling over themselves come FA time to sign defensement to $10M contracts. By the way, I never said Ehlers will be getting $10M. Have you been taking citing lessons from gojetsgo?
way you back-pedal you should be starting DB for the Bombers.

you're the one that theorized, and then chased me in another thread about NHL GMs/the Jets giving a FA RD 10M. i don't know if Ehlers signs or not but they sure aren't giving any of those FA RD 10m/year like you posted about.

now you want to pivot to trades after your ridiculous FA prediction.
i don't know which "top-dollar" (not sure which players you're thinking of here, or the benchmark caphit, ie: 8m? 9m?) are available. id be open to a trade for sure, the Jets are up there w/ the most cap-space in the league in the off-season, so they have plenty of flexibility.

lot of those top-dollar guys likely have NTC/NMC part of those contracts, are a key piece to their team (hence the high cap hit), or perhaps negative value relative to their contract which may be someone to avoid. so hard to discuss likelihood when you're being vague on names.

still think the jets need 1 more add up front, they are clicking right now but have had the secondary scoring dry up already this season + were one injury away from having our top 2 centers be names/lowry, we really need some insurance for what we hope to be a long playoff run
