Marchessault deserved it. Eichel would have been a deserving winner as well, had he won it.

Just like in 2017, there were two worthy choices. Crosby and Malkin both deserved the Smythe that year.

Kessel back checked and forechecked extremely well in those playoffs. He was excellent everywhere.

No he did not and it was why Malkin and him were constantly arguing on the bench. Kessel barely made human contact if he could help it

Marchessault was clutch all playoffs long.

People can’t accept that an undrafted player outplayed one of the most hyped/anticipated 2nd overalls in NHL history.

The Conn Smythe doesn’t have to go to the biggest name.

Marchessault embodies Vegas hockey, he’s been there from the start and he set the pace for Vegas with the timeliness of his goals.
As a Vegas fan, Eichel set up Marchessault for half his goals, led the team in scoring, and was excellent defensively. There's absolutely an argument for him. Marchy is deserving too, no question, but this take is just a bit off.

Grats to the former Bolt! Crazy how he developed. You could see hints of it here but wow.

Marchessault was so dominant in both the SCF and the CF with 11 goals and 10 assists in his last 13 games that is just had to be him. Eichel, production wise, went in the opposite direction. Started out super hot and then regressed a little bit. Both had crazy 5v5 underlying numbers, so this was absolutely the right choice.

Outplayed Eichel?

Eichel
22gp 6g 14 primary assists 6 secondary assists = 20 primary points

Marchessault
22gp 13g 2 primary assists 10 secondary assists = 15 primary points

Marchessault was set up by Eichel all playoff long while piling up secondary assists...

setting up is nice, but you have to have someone able to finish. Eichel without Marchy is like anyone on the Canes with.... well... anyone else on the Canes

The guy FLA paid Vegas to take in the expansion draft wins the Conn Smythe, beating FLA in the Finals.

One of the best player story arcs ever.

I was only kidding about locking him up for driving a Lamborghini. He seems to be a great family man and he deserved the CS.
