Marchessault answering about the Leafs tough start of season: "I think they have a good team, but I don't think they are as good as people think"

Jonathan Marchessault is a regular contributor on TVA sports and they often talk about various subjects around the league with him just like they do with André Tourigny and Michel Therrien, that's why they talked about the Leafs.
Now that would make sense, especially considering how much is written about the Habs here to have Québec people from around the league to talk about other things that are getting attention.

But I could also make a convoluted point about how this really means Québec can't stop talking about Toronto which means that it's not Toronto that's talking about Toronto despite this point coming from Toronto to showcase how clearly Toronto is what matters but its not because Toronto thinks that at all

Only the media hypes them up as a good team. Fans are well aware of how shit this team is.

Not true. I don’t even read/watch North American media.

Most of the Toronto fanboys started planning the parade in 2016 and are making the rest of us aware of it.

If it was only the media, how come any time there’s an ounce of criticism against Toronto on these forums, the fans go berserk?

Meanwhile the Golden Knights have only 3 wins against teams that made the playoffs last season. The only reason why they're in first is Bettman handed them a buttery soft schedule to start the year. Vegas is quite literally the definition of overrated.

Why do people keep commenting “rent free”, “centre of the hockey world” whenever there’s a leafs discussion? We’re all hockey fans here, if Boston started the season struggling we would talk about them the same way

If it weren’t the leafs we would all be here having the same discussion. The Leafs have the league MVP on their roster, struggling early in the season would always have been noteworthy

Why would the french media be asking a Vegas player a question about the Leafs...before a game with Montreal? Like I don't care it's just weird lol there isn't another team that has random quotes from players they aren't even facing about how they are doing. Just the way it is.

It’s too early. If they had 2 wins or were getting absolutely shelled night in/night out, it might be concerning. They’re 1 point back of second in their division with 70 games to play. There’s still a good bit of natural evening out that’s going to happen before we get a really good picture of who teams are.

“Shut the f*** lil dick!”- Jonathan Marchessault. Or was that Plato? Either way, when a wordsmith is at work I listen up good.

You should file a complaint to the league.

They could ban all non-Toronto based media from asking questions like in Russia.

It’s cute that you believe that, where is the thread about the reigning Presidents trophy winners having a worse record than the struggling Maple Leafs after making major off-season moves?

Agreed. About this time last year, the VGK and Ducks were #1 and #2 in the Pacific. Then the injury bug started after the VGK with a vengence and the Ducks imploded, and ultimately neither made the playoffs. IMHO, have to get to at least New Year's before even the best teams can start to be counted in and the worst teams counted out.
