Right now I think he’s still gone, but for as much as they seem open to it, part of me wonders if they’d really go ahead and move both of their goalies from opening night last year.

There is definite interest in Shesterkin again. The question is what cost are those teams willing to pay.
Would we really even consider moving Shesty?

Why on earth would we trade Igor?

Now that we’ve created some decent cap space I would prefer to be a bit conservative and not make any huge splashes money wise. And even trade wise. Things seem to be coming together nicely. Just have to stay patient. I mean if someone offers us something nice for strome fine but rather not bring in bigger contracts right now

They're going to sign another LD. Methinks Nathan Beaulieu would be a very good fit for this team.

Igor?? You mean Georgiev —- i hope haha

Edit: already saw your responses to others

So question... If detroit buys him out, can the Rangers sign Staal again for like 1M cap hit? Similar to what the Caps did with Orpik? Or is this considered cap circumvention?

Totally legal. That's what the 2md round pick gets you.

The NHL teams capologists are not the most sophisticated out there. I know 13 year olds who would leverage everything that they could with the cap.

Sign and trades, the Orpik loophole, the Stone loophole. Then there's deal structure of course, and planning for buyouts.

Most teams use the same set of levers. The lack of creativity here is rather self limiting no?

Especially for those that are trying to get a competitive edge.
