Leafs had 4 PKs and still owned the period.

To be fair, Calgary played last night, but the only thing concerning about that period for Toronto was bench penalties.

With all do respect, these types of comments really gets to me

Oh we got run over but we got the 2 points. We been getting 2 points, playing well

But the fact his, we have to push back and lose a game if that means beating the crap out of somebody for a change

Ever since I can remember, not since Orr and Mclaren days that we have always been taking a licking from everyone every year

What is Clifford going to do from stopping it from being Marner or Nylander? He sure as hell won't be on the ice with them.

To remind them that their players are fair game as well. Big hits against their smaller players will send a message and if needed, he can and will drop his gloves no matter how much I may dislike it.

I'm no fan of fighting and yes the hit was clean. However, even clean hits need a response in kind. We lack that game and it shows.

Just win the game and try and stay healthy. This often requires playing the tough game in protection of each other.

The Ritchie situation is what it is. Clifford should be dressed for such a game though in my opinion. You simply need SOME weight in a game like this on the road, no matter the difficulty of getting them in.

This time it was Kase, what if next time it is Marner or Nylander?
You think if Clifford was in the game, Zadorov doesn't throw a hit? He is tooooo scared of scary Clifford? Give me a break.

The Holl penalty was soft, so Toronto deserves 3 of them (although instigating never gets called on teams like Boston.) However, the refs have their heads up their ass for not calling a single obvious one on Calgary.

If you come out of that period thinking you would rather be the Flames....oh man I just dunno. One team was so far better than the other.

I'm all good with calling it big guy hitting little guy but something tells me the "Experts" at intermission would be discussing suspension or not if that was Muzzin hitting little johnny hockey...

I think that is what gets me the most.

We have seen this type of hit before. Sometimes it is a suspension and a penalty, other times it is not. What is the differentiating factor? Who is doing it? Who is getting hit?

I am fine if they want to call that clean, and I think what Rielly did afterwards was 100% clean too. But call all hits like that clean then.

Clifford is to slow to actually hit anyone worth a damn and if we intentionally put him out against other teams best players for revenge we are more likely to be scored on then have him lay out Johnny Hockey. Why don't we just see how the actual players on the ice handle the situation...it was one big clean hit. It isn't the end of the world.

I didn’t mind the hit. It’s an oversight there is no one there to reply to it though.

In what world is that NOT a head shot.
Kase is very lucky Zadorov was hardly moving....Kase basically skated right into a big red brick wall. The wider angle makes it look like Zadorov does extend his body into Kase's head though. The closeup slow motion looks like Zadorov extends after Kase collides into him and not before.

I just realized Matthews didn’t play a lot last period. So he’s gunna play a lot the next two ahaha

Rielly took a run at a guy who was 6'5. Be happy someone did something. Simmonds had a fight last game.

Ive been saying for years that Toronto needs more toughness, no argument here. Zeroing in on a 6'5 dman who is known for hitting, checking a guy who is known for concussions because he plays too reckless does not suddenly mean Toronto had a bad period.

Was it a concern last year when everyone was laughing at Tkachuk for getting clowned by Muzzin?

I agree with you in games where Toronto is actually getting pushed around. All I see here is Toronto getting interfered with and refs doing a poor job as usual.

Kase should be more careful around 6'5 dmen.
