run be damned, the metro is still a tough division -- we can't forget that
Ain't that the truth.

That was why I was annoyed as hell the Devils couldn't at least get a point.

Not getting any points in THIS division winds up with your team falling fast.

Devils need to get 2 points in the next game.

THEY HAVE TO now.

i quoted the rule in the thread

the puck can't deflect off "any player, goaltender, or official" from the kick, so sure -- the kick wasn't towards the net, but any subsequent deflections (not a stick) didn't matter
Fair enough, but that's a BS rule regardless lol. Absolutely useless.

I did not see the first disallowed goal. The second one, on Tatar, I'm not super pissed about because the spirit of the law is to give the goalie a chance to make a save. It's not terrible. The third really pissed me off. Haula is making a regular hockey play to kick the puck to his feet and the puck deflects in. Maybe it's justifiable by the letter, but the Devils were really pressing. That and the Murray net removal non-call just have me steaming.

My solace is that this team really friggin' put in a A+ effort to win it. They played great. Maybe Hughes could have done a little less with the extra man. Maybe Bastian could shoot instead of pass. Blah blah. They win that game 90 out of 100 times. I love this team.

I'm sorry, but spending the first period sitting on your own dick like the Devils did this was bound to happen.

Still first in the Metro. Do better in the first 20 next time.

Wait...seriously?

Has that portion of the rule been around for awhile?

I never knew that.

And it's utter bs as the Devils player (i think it was bastian) was trying to GET OUT OF THE WAY.

There should be Intent written into the rule as an exception.

What a bogus call which ended up costing the Devils at least one point.

We did score AND hit a post in the first half of the first. It wasn't until after that - and an uncalled hold leading to a TOR goal, and then a freak bounce off a knee leading to a breakaway when the flow was going the other way, that we really turtled in the 1st.

Dont have Thanksgiving here, but I hope all of you who celebrate have a great one. I hope @NjDevsRR had a nice date, but not too nice so he will still be posting Dano memes in the future.

Everyone should be thankful for this winning streak, but more importantly how our team has played outside the score and how our core is structured for years to come. I sure am.

I'm off to work, have a good one.

nvm the date is not until saturday. Well I hope it still goes well. LOL

Leafs sat on their own dick for 40 minutes. We deserved this game regardless of our 1st.

It is what it is, not gonna win each game, but if we play like that most of our games, we'll be high up in the standings.

Yeah, I said it at the time, Bastian could've tipped it before it crossed the line but seemed to hold up to not be seen as a greedy guy, and it cost us the goal on the weird interpretation of that rule. I get it if Haula kicked it toward the net - but he didn't. It bounced off of two Leafs (D and G) and in.

My issue is that 6 points can quickly get whittled down to 0 points real fast.

Maybe it's all that PTSD from all those losing seasons but I feel that not being able to AT LEAST get a point to stay somewhat further ahead of the rest may come back to bite us.

Next game against whomever it is(I am too annoyed to check the schedule right now) is a must-win(or rather a must-get-two-points-at-all-costs) game.

And yeah....the 3 disallowed goals were pure ASS calls but it's Toronto so I expected shenanigans.

We are either good enough to make the playoffs or we aren't. Good teams win more often than they lose. If we are a good team, we will do that and if we do that, we will make the playoffs. If not, we won't, and then maybe you can say this was a fluke. Let's just enjoy the ride.

The rule doesn't care what direction or who it hits if the last action is a kick. It was the right call.

The interference on Bastian is probably the worst one. If that's the 3rd goal instead of the first, they probably don't even waive that off. Murray was barely touched, had time to reset and was able to fully extend.

Tatar's play was just handled poorly. They didn't clarify their decision. If it was interference it should have been a penalty.
The rule says you can’t use a kicking motion “to propel the puck into the net.” To me “using a kick” to “propel the puck into the net” isn’t just physical causation, it includes intending the kick to drive the puck home. Reading the rule as a whole, I think that’s a reasonable interpretation. I don’t know that the league has issued any definitive guidance. Clearly that wasn’t how Toronto interpreted it tonight.

i'm so tired of the specific calls tbh

end of the day, i'm just glad it wasn't a cowardly loss. THANKFUL for this team and where we've ended up. and thankful for everyone here for making it insane and fun every day, and giving me a place to waste away for a few hours each week
This. We went down swinging.

Better to die fighting on your feet than just rolling over like a smalldick bitch.
