The Red Sox series was pain. These losses suck too but Nola/Wheeler are always a tough matchup. Doesn't get much easier with Strider and Elder coming up against Bassitt/Berrios...
I get the frustration. You could make an argument they essentially beat themselves in that Boston series and this one given the second Philly game was decided on a throwing error after a top half inning of...questionable decisions.

Agreed about Atlanta as well. They have their top end of their rotation ready to go out and that lineup to put it simply, is absolutely ****ing the baseball right now. Murphy and Olsen are red hot, MVP Acuna is back, Albies is having a great start, Sam Hilliard is hitting the ball for some reason, etc. Even scarier they're not even at full strength right now with Michael Harris just coming back from injury recently and Austin Riley off to a bit of a slower start.

I assume it goes Strider/Elder and then Morton for game 3 which also isn't a particularly easy matchup either.

He's off to a fantastic start this year, which is crazy because he seems to have just gotten worse and worse since getting drafted. I think I had subconsciously written him off, but it's crazy to think he's only 22 and pitching great in AA.

At this point, it's just awesome that he may be getting himself back on the prospect radar.

I would love to know his velocity.

Martinez has two homers tonight.

I don't understand Orelvis anymore. How do you have 10 hits in 97 plate appearances and 7 of them are homeruns. It's not even like his K% is that bad either. 24% isn't good but it's progress from last year, and you can't expect much better from his type of player.

He has some of the most extreme numbers I've ever seen. He came into tonight with an .053 BABIP and then went 0-2 on balls in play. He hits a ton of infield flies, so part of it might be an extreme batted ball, but that doesn't even come close to explaining it. I think we'll see him turn it around over the next couple months.

Rasmussen just placed on the 60-day IL with a flexor strain.

The Rays rotation takes another massive hit, plus Glasnow had a recent setback. It'll be up to McClanahan, Eflin, and probably Bradley once recalled. I'm sure they'll still find a way to remain elite, though.

Oh they will have some random 25 year old that will throw upper 90's with a plus changeup slot right in anytime I am sure.

Notable AL Pitchers lost to TJ:
Springs
Ray
Mahle
Garcia
(Maybe Rasmussen)

All for teams that will contend for playoff spots.
Couple arms to watch in the NL as well. There's concern amongst the Braves that Max Fried's "forearm strain" is actually related to his UCL.

No word yet but Fried is expected to be out a month at minimum as they reassess.

So far our prospects have gotten off to slow starts all around.

One guy off to a hot start though is Spencer Horowitz.

110ab .327/.460/.464 1hr 20rbi 12(2b) 26bb 28so

The lack of power isn't encouraging, and he's already 25, but you gotta take what you can get.

He has to be the next man up if there's an injury at this point.

The Rays are back on their bullshit again.

Ernie Clement with his 5th homerun of the season, already a career high for him in his pro career. He has 4 strikeouts in 125 PAs...

Even in a small sample, 5 HR, 12 BB, and 4 K is wild. I would probably be comfortable giving him a shot in a utility role and optioning Biggio at this point. They would probably have to DFA Thornton or Hatch, but that would also be fine.

Fletcher already has 3 of the worst 10 games run influence and Wendelstedt has 2 (some umps that we probably don't want to see any time soon).

Yikes. Looks like the players (for both sides) weren't the only ones who had a bad day yesterday.

To recap, the Jays had their #5 starter going against one of the top teams in the league and made a ton of mistakes in the field and on the basepaths and failed to cash in in most of their run scoring situations and the ump did everything in his power to hand the game to Atlanta... and the Jays walked away with a sweep. I'll take it!

It's absurd how many extreme benefits pro sports leagues get from the federal governments in both countries and still there's no protections for communities against relocation strong arming.

Millions and millions and millions of people have the Oakland A's as geographically their closest team. What's wrong, John? They're ALL Giants fans? We're supposed to treat Oakland like it's Renfrew, Ontario because a Brad Pitt movie told us it was a small market? I'm just so fed up with how awful this has been for A's fans and the majority of sports media is just shrugging their shoulders.

And they will magically win a WS shortly after relocation.

Mark this post.

Nothing in pro sports is....random.
