I think they already did with Miller.

That contract is a very short sighted move.

Dont know if I would cassify it as desperate. Just a move that should be good for the team now and bad later.
That’s right..it’s a retool …the time is now..now is the time.

Not really, it’s a logical move to make when they decided to retool. You can’t really retool this team by getting rid of a PPG guy with no replacement.

Yeah his contract is going to suck like4 years, let’s just hope he ages like Pavelski.

You start with 'not really' but then agree with what I said...?

If they trade assets to dump garland, this management team is clueless.

Honestly, I'm hearing lots of dumb shit right now. Why are we even discussing any scenario where we move down in the draft for cap considerations? I'm not even talking about that unless it includes OEL and it simply won't cause that's how negative value him and his contract are right now.

There are plenty of other options to explore before this one.

Not management but ownership on this one.

A completely ludicrous ask (3 year contract at $25,000 per) for such a consistently horrid product.

For some reason when I originally saw this, I thought it was 75k per year not for the 3 year commitment.

It's still a crazy ask and kind of a bullshit move to bump long time season ticket holders from seats they've held for years.

The fact that you get access to everything, hockey, concerts, etc and you hold those seats will appeal to some but not everyone. (A guy in his 60s who just wants to see the Canucks play isn't gonna go ga-ga over having good seats to see Taylor swift for example. )

Edit. Thinking about it more, it's still per seat, right? 50k for 2 seats, that's a ton of disposable income or a company trying to schmooze I guess.

Don't think it's that at all. Think management wanted to move on from Bo, and thank goodness for that. I'm elated that guy is finally off the team. I feel terrible for Islanders fans being duped by Vancouver fans into thinking Bo is something he's not.

So that leaves the Miller predicament. They tried to move him. Enough smoke there in the rumor mill alongside Allvin's comments to conclude they've tried to move him. But a deal hasn't come together yet.

So what do ya do? Just let him walk for nothing? He's a PPG top line center who plays the right way. I think the idea is that we sign this guy and try to find the right deal later on, maybe when the cap goes up and we have some more cap flexibility.

Worst case scenario, we have a really good player on a contract that will be a problem 4-5 years down the road. I don't think there's much more to it than that.

Structure. Standards. Habits. Lip Service!

Tocchet style + team's players = Square pegs in round holes

And Another wasted year

This is just a hilariously "Canucks" move

Problem: People don't come to the games because the product stinks, tickets are still quite expensive and the presentation of the product is completely corporate and lifeless

Solution A: Building a team with a bright future that fans can believe in, so that they are incentivized to want to come to the rink to see the future happening live in front of them. Wins lead to excitement and success, excitement leads to atmosphere, success leads to profits.

Solution B: Making a few seats even more expensive, enough so that only corporate entities will be able to afford them, while offering no improvement in the product whatsoever.

I wonder if those seats would ever pop up on the resale market? I'd love to go and really class up the place.

Our ownership is a clown car. Of what? Take your pick. All I know is the car is on fire and the trunk is filled with turds.

I keep hearing ads on the radio for seasons and I'm like: "You know when you never had to spend ad money for that? When the team was actually worth a damn."

When people had to pay to be on the waiting list for season tickets.
