Tyler Myers saying afterwards that this was probably the first game where all the negative background noise really sapped the energy of the players.....adding that he's never seen anything like it in his 13 years in the league. And this a guy who played in Buffalo and Winnipeg.

Looking at the #$%$-show that passes for 'management' of this franchise, what are the chances that Petey and Hughes will want to re-up here?

Horvat is already counting down the days until he can put this Canuck crappola in the rear-view mirror. And also makes you wonder whether Kuzmenko will have a change of heart as well. I mean he's probably learned a lot in his half season here, and not in a good way.

And looking down the road, how long will it be before players simply start shunning this market when they become UFA's? Or if the Canucks want to sign anyone, they're going to have to dramatically overpay.

Whether by accident or incompetent design, ownership is setting up this franchise for failure for another decade.

No, I’m just not buying what you’re selling.

I do agree that good organizations handle their business better than this, cleaner than this, but this is a blip that will be forgotten in no time if they pull their shit together…if its a continued gong show there will be some short term repercussions.
I would agree with you but when the army of Tocchet and the rest of JR’s cronies arrive, this will look even more comical.

If we hired an actual coach and staff with him, I’d be very much on your side that this could very well blow over and be a thing of the past.

Tocchet is a dinosaur hire. Already not looking good.

Hiring a new coach before the old coach is gone happens pretty regularly.

Darryl Sutter was hired on the day Geoff Ward was fired as a fairly recent example. They didn’t start discussions and come to an agreement with Sutter the previous day. Crawford replacing Keenan is an example in our history.

In terms of the nuts and bolts of it, the team hasn’t done anything wrong.

The difference here is the extent to which things have leaked. And once those leaks got out and the situation became obvious, they needed to pull the plug on Boudreau, immediately after the last road trip, to prevent a circus.

They didn’t, and now it’s a circus.

I’m guessing it’s because they’re firing the whole staff, and didn’t want to name an interim coach and then fire him a week later. But it’s still not good enough. Just a total embarrassment for the whole organization right now.

That’s virtually every member of the canucks organization every single one has failed in their jobs this year. Horvat included.

You want this loser around the team more? I guess we are pretty are pretty embarrassing so why not just have absolutely no standards whatsoeve
Sure yeah they have failed to achieve what they want to achieve this season. Typically management gets like 3 years and if they continue to fail next year then they are most likely gone very fast.
That doesn’t change the fact BB has failed to deliver what was asked of him right? He was asked to build a system and evidently he has not done that. This team is just as chaotic as it was last year if not more. So if he is not delivering, then why shouldn’t management look for another coach. I don’t agree with it, I think we should stick with BB and continue to tank but it seems like a lot of tanking folks here now have switched to let’s honor BB’s dignity instead of protect the tank.

The only enjoyment I get out of the Canucks is revelling in the national media dunking all over them.
It’s saying something when I would prefer the sheer stupidity of Benning compared to the despicable cowardly acts of current mgmt.

Agreed. Bruce has basically been in limbo since the start of the season because we know he’s not JR’s guy and whatever that’s fine. This has just drug on longer than normal and that’s where the anger is. Current Canucks and even other players around the league are commenting on it now. It’s gone too far for too long if we’re reaching that point.

I have no issues with a team looking for a new coach while still having one but the amount of publicity and leaks and media talk etc this one has had, seems a bit much.

Like, if tomorrow isn’t his last game, it will be absolutely insane. Beyond insane.

He’s clearly getting fired Monday. The arena DJ even has been informed of this, apparently.

But it’s a week too late. It was already becoming an issue on the road trip and it was just dead obvious that it needed to happen as soon as they got back.

I was just going to say something about this. The Benning era at least felt like simple incompetence, hockey wise. The Canucks right now feel like more of a cold, depressing dark cloud than they ever did during Benning's tenure, or any other time while I've been a fan.

Good reputation this regime has created for this team. I don’t care what you think, whether it’s warranted or not, or if Bruce is being soft or not. I really do not care.

That quote is from a player, on the outside of this mess looking in, and essentially calling it an embarrassment. Think he’s the only one? Think he’s the last to take notice of this?

Do you legitimately think other players commenting on what this team is doing in this light is good? Like, really? This is normal to you???

Yep. Very normal.

I mean Myers is a huge part of the problem. So maybe if he wasn’t so ass at his job then BB would have more success. Perhaps he should reflect a bit and not be so f***ing ass.

Well I have never seen so much media attention on something like this. Like we had the same thing happen to Green last year and we didn’t have nearly as much attention as we do now. And you are right, this is really unusual in the sense how much media attention is on it. Like how different is this really from a typical coaching replacement. We’ve seen this before, coaches typically goes in 2 ways, they get fired and intern comes in or they get fired and a replacement that is rumored comes in right away. Like how the hell is this actually different?

On top of that, Tocchet’s name came out uhh last week? From the reaction you see around here, it’s like we have known Tocchet is the guy for the last 2 months and BB bas been coaching for the longest time knowing who is going to replace him.

I think it's because the curtain has been pulled back and everyone is seeing the source of the rot in the organization and realizing it might never end.

When Benning was around he was the town clown, the perfect lightning rod for aqua, and he always had an expiration date. Now everyone's looking straight at the source.

Boudreau is well known around the league and has a very long and pretty successful track record as a coach. Green was a new young coach that faded pretty quickly. They are not the same.

Furthermore, the way Boudreau has handled this with humor and grace is setting himself up pretty good for at least a ton of interviews after this is over, and potentially a bit of TV work.

How incompetent and despicable do you have to be to make me start to like Benning?

This organization is completely horrible. I hope they get absolutely destroyed tomorrow. And on Hockey Day in Canada, the biggest story in the hockey world will be the complete tire fire at Rogers Arena.

Congrats Aquilini, Rutherford, and Allvin. It's what you deserve.

Hmm...I thought talking to the media was explicitly against club policy. They had to fire Doerrie because of it!

I wonder who's getting fired for all these leaks? Oh wait...no one! Because this is a pathetic, laughable organization.

My guess is JR retires this summer and Francesco eats Allvin’s lunch and becomes de-facto President of Hockey Ops again.

I don't get this comment. If you want to embarrass them don't you want them to win a national game with the team showing up for Bruce?

Well BB has a much better personality and is more popular with the fans. But they are treated essentially the same.

Yeah I think BB handled this well and he will most likely get another gig after this.

Imagine thinking that a player, just because he's not performing well, doesn't have the right to comment on this situation. Imagine taking all humanity out of things like that.

Speaking of Allvin, what a non-entity this guy is. Wow. Like, I know being in the spotlight in this situation isn't preferable, but speak up. Be heard. Prove you're someone in all this and thus are capable of being part of the solution.

My god
Stop defending Rutherford and his handling of the cap and signings
Even he knows they were SHYT.
The JR apologists will be the ones crying the loudest later and pretending like they were never defending JR later on

Hmm Cogliano and Myers versus random HF Van poster

Give me the HF poster’s opinion on how things are supposed to work behind the scenes in the NHL

I feel bad for Bruce, but I don't get the anger of the fanbase. This is just JR/Allvin underestimating the media frenzy of the TO/MTL/Van market spotlight. Bruce is still being paid, JR is honest that he is not his guy, bottomline, Bruce is not winning, and the team doesn't want to win, so they are not in a hurry to fire him. As much as the team said they play for him, they sure as heck aren't blocking shots and hustling enough to win. And if the fans are so reactive to negative news, how can this market stomach a scorched earth rebuild??
