my opinion of Geno would have truly soured if he left, simply because, to me, it would have meant he / his camp did a LOT of lying over the last couple of weeks, and I simply didn't believe that to be the case. He can get emotional in the moment, but in the end, his camp made it clear he wanted to stay. Once Hextall moved to 4 years, it made no sense to me why this would deteriorate.

Yeah if he would have left because they finally got to his point (even though in my opinion it took too long) but it wasn’t as fast as he wanted that would have left me with a sour taste in my mouth. They have to have a trade up their sleeve I would assume? Because as happy as I am that he’s back they need to re-tool the roster in other places or else bringing back any of these guys is meaningless

Hextall got Malkin, Rust and Letang to sign for a combined $17.3 million. Last year, those 3 made a combined $20.25 million.

If that's not some great GMing, I don't know what is. It got a little scary in the end, but Hextall is clearly showing that he's great at getting good value out of contracts.
