Lindblom specifically was bought out because he's so young with 1 year left on his deal, the CBA allowed us to save more money immediately from his buyout than say - JVR.

Fletcher clearly is throwing everything at Johnny Hockey - and I think we'll land him (which we shouldn't be trying to get him. We suck and will definitely get fleeced in the deal) - so Lindblom is a casualty due to cap & him being a winger.

Last couple years have been bad luck. They clearly outplayed their opponents, happens sometimes. Besides, there's enjoyment to be had to see your team's legends play out their careers here. There's plenty of time to rebuild. Your own red wings have been garbage for 6 years now - maybe the pens will rebuild and be back in contention before Detroit anyway lol.

I honesty worried about the Flyers becoming good because of Hextall and how he was running the team.

I'm not worried about the Flyers now or in the future. I'm worried about the direction the Devils are headed though, especially if they end up with Gaudreau.

Gaudreau-Hughes-Bratt is gonna slaughter the Pens for years if it becomes a line.

Hell yes! Leaving aside all this hysterical drama the last couple of days, Geno and the Pens are made to be together. I dont know 100% if this is the right decision for things on-ice the next few years, but I know avoiding the bad blood, and making sure the three pillars on this team continue to have each others backs the next 4 years is a huge W. Tonight, Geno is happy, Sid is happy, Tanger is happy. The skills might be diminishing, but nobody has got more heart than those guys.

Now, time to free up some money, find some bargains in the UFA market, and lets go get number 6
