Trocheck can be bumped to L2 and Kap to L3.

I don't think you have the money for that sadly. I think you have to both trade Pettersson and let Kapanen go to afford Trocheck, and it's still dicey.

But if you get Lindblom to a cheap deal, you could afford Rakell-Malkin-Trocheck and Zucker-Carter-Lindblom as your middle-6.

Kap's cap hit will be too good not to roll the dice with him imo. We'll have injuries and he'll be able to hop into the top 6 if he's playing closer to year 1.
We know him and Geno have had chemistry before.

I feel pretty strongly that we can dump Zuck for cheaper than people think. And with the way our top 6 is looking, we're a pretty attractive team for a quality winger to replace him.
You do that and you got a beastly top 6 and possibly an outside shot at the Cup, if the stars align.

If you move out salary you don't have to worry about signing kasperi kapanen for a while oh, he can't really go anywhere. They need to just get a UfA or two under contract. And if they move out MP they will be able to get pretty much anyone they want save gaudreau or qadri. Provided of course they want to come here. I feel very sure a couple of them would.

Heading into the offseason I certainly didn't expect Geno, Tanger, Rust, and Rakell to all be back. That is an impressive job to be able to keep them. I figured a couple would have left.

Now let's see what Hextall can do to create some cap space.

I think this is worth restating. It's not the most exciting off season in terms of change but bringing back all of these guys and still having cap flexibility to do a little more is nothing short of remarkable.

Let's not forget, this was a damned good roster this year both by eye test and analytically and with a healthy goalie they at least make round 2. This team could still make some noise.

They don't need to be pure cap dumps. Saving say 2-3 million of their salaries by taking just a little salary back could really open things up to grab a Trocheck or whoever
