Malkin on Russia, Crosby not on Team Canada??

I never would have agreed to it before, but after watching 2 straight pathetic losses, I'm on the bandwagon. Crosby would bring fire and desperation to this team. Not to mention his natural offensive abilities.

Crosny = Canada's Saviour

Sakic, Thorton, Nash, Iginla, Lecavalier can't score vs Swiss and Finns but Crosby would have probably destroyed them all, right????

I failed to see where you got the "destroy" from his post... :dunno:

He didn't get "destroy" because it wasn't there.

For the first time since Crosby started playing in the NHL, I'm on his side, and I feel the pain of the Crosby-ites out there. How ****ing annoying to have people jump on you because you think he's good - especially Ovechkin lovers. Man, that pissed me off.

Yeah i was just thinking about how the lost of Mario was hurting this Canadian team, not only because of the leadership but because, even if he wasn't a big factor in the last couple of years, he was making some magic plays that were giving his teamates hope that something could happen for them, Crosby is the one in IMO that could make those kind of plays.

Out of subject but has anyone noticed how St-Louis with short hair and no beard on a big ice with guys like Lecavalier, Pronger and Blake, look like a kid.

Malkin looked out of place in his games against the world's best and hasn't even played a game in the NHL.

Crosby is stronger than Malkin.
I fear you are wrong.

When you consider acceleration, stability, lateral motion,...
Not that sure about the ‘lateral motion’, but agree on stability and especially acceleration.

Crosby has grown up in North America playing on NHL sized rinks and is used to the style of play here here as well.
So what..

Malkin will be a great 2 way player, but he will not score at the pace Crosby does, or will.
That’s probably going to be true.

As for the whole thread topic, Crosby is not on the team cause a dumb mistake was made. I don’t know about the reasons.. (taking away pressure and talks about him? Those would be dumb reasons anyway..if anything Crosby would have got a taste of what is awaiting him for Vancouver 2010..)

I’ve said along the season Crosby should have been on the team (as Staal obviously) and I’ve always put him on my team Canada (despite some laughs). Let alone now, watching how the other ones are playing.
Crosby is highly skilled, has great sense and vision (which helps building chemistry in few days) and on top of that is a great skater with fresh legs, something the current Canadian team is sorely missing.
And he is also someone able to do damages off the rushes..

I’ve always said Crosby should be used as a center, but on this team Canada on the bigger surface they could have used him as a winger as well.

Watching Brad Richards play and seeing how effective his playmaking can be on the large surface just reinforces why Crosby should be there. As good a playmaker as Richards is Sidney is better plus he is a better puck carrier, scorer etc.Crosby could have been a star in this tournament. Also Crosby can compliment anybody he plays with so chemistry is not a problem.

Staal could have been a force in this tournament too.

So you're saying that a mere kid could do what more experienced star veterans can not? And on top of that, the same kid is so good playing with everyone that chemistry isn't a problem? :shakehead

That kind of thinking is exactly why the team hasn't worked so far "let's throw in a bunch of stars on ice, we'll win for sure". No matter what the name is in the back and no matter who the other guys are, there just has to be some sort of chemistry. The players don't need to like each others, but they do need to know each others atleast on a basic level. That's how plays happen, by knowing where the team mates are.

Honestly, I don't think he needs to grow up. Sometime the Crosby apologists need to realize that one player won't make a difference for a team that cannot be called a "team" right now.

Nobody said that Crosby would completely transform the team on his own.

Wooooo! Go Ovechkin!

No, worse - he kind of looks like Crosby...
Damn, that's a pretty terrible remark. I've always thought that Crosby is one of the uglier looking players out there. Only Heatley and our own Ville Neiminen are uglier.

I know, its harsh on Malkin. But really, there is a semblance - just find some photos, you'll see

Let's see, with all the offensive power the Russians have, Malkin was nevertheless able to make the team having without having played one game in the NHL.

Crosby on the other hand, who is dominating in his first year and is having a better season than most of Team Canada's roster, can't even make the team even on the taxi squad. Many believe that he whines to much which may or may not be true, but there is no doubting his effort on every single shift that he plays unlike some members on this version of Team Canada. I guess he's not experienced enough right wayne?? Ridiculous.

Could somebody please explain the logic of excluding Crosby from Team Canada??

Canadian brain trust has this theory that experience trumps all. I strongly disagree.

If you want to complain about a rookie not making it, the greater travesty is that Bryan McCabe is on the team ahead of Dion Phaneuf.

Agreed!

Actually because of the big ice i would have put Phaneuf ahead of Regehr and Foote as well.

McCabe is just a pilon out there and now even Quinn is regreting him.

Well for one, who is Crosby going to replace at Centre? Not Sakic, not Lecavalier, not Thornton, and not Richards. For one Crosby is too young, secondly Malkin is better, I think anyways...and thirdy it's probably easier to make the Russian team since they don't have the depth like the Canadians.

he's better than all of them, and thornton is useless in tournaments/playoffs.
i'm not a fan of crosby, but he's an incredible player and deserved to be on this team.
this veteran leadership jargon, has taken the canadian team where?

and malkin looks like he has downs...notice how he foams at his mouth whenever he tries to speak.
