Nice wish , unfortunately there is a better chance the Jets win the cup...
It’s a bold prediction. Just a hot take if he doesn’t resign in Pittsburg. He has his cups, I’m sure him and his wife would love living in Vancouver period. Something the Jets have issues with, people wanting to live there As professional athletes.

Is it your opinion that they won’t re-sign Malkin or was something said.

In my opinion getting past the 2nd round has no baring if they will sign him or not. If he wants to play he stays in Pittsburgh.
Hextall has already stated that if the UFA Letang , Malkin , Rust are wanting fair market value they likely won't be playing for Pittsburgh next season.
If Letang wants 7,000,000 + x 5 years as was reported and If Malkin wants 7,000,000 + x 3 years Hextall , Burke shouldn't sign either player and likely won't . The player that has the best chance of being resigned is Rust if his want is around 6,000,000 per x 5 years . Hextall , Burke should test Malkin if he's being truthful about wanting to remain in Pittsburgh offer 5,000,000 per x 3 years and make the offer public because its more than fair to 36 year old player that only plays 60 + games per season . If Crosby can play for 3,000,000 per the next 3 seasons Malkin should accept 5,000,000 per x 3 years if he really is being truthful about wanting to remain in Pittsburgh.
Crosby is a better player and would be making 2,000,000 less per season than Malkin.

if he signs....

(1) its only short 2-3 yrs
(2) if he goes back to russia after the season he might not be able to come back

Yes Russia does sounds like a really nice, peaceful and fun place to be right now :)

Rust is getting term he will want 7 years and get 7 million a year.
Letang 7x5 is an underpayment

I don't think you understand what the current fair market value is for star players.

It's unlikely Hextall , Burke resign Letang 35 years old and Malkin 36 years old if Pittsburgh lose in the 1st rd or 2nd rd .
Hextall , Burke have no emotional , sentimental attachment to either player if the team fails in the playoffs its likely the last time they play for the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Fair enough, one can throw out bold predictions, no harm but the reality is, 71 is the second line C in Pittsburgh next season no matter what the playoff outcome is

Wrong , no matter how many times you post soen delusional, it doesn't get closer to coming true Son......try again....
Hextall , Burke don't have a sentimental connection to either player like the fans do they won't resign either player if the team fails in playoffs and it won't matter if fans don't like it.

Brian Burke has also stated multiple times since he was hired that he's there to win. He's not there to rebuild. You don't follow up a second round playoff loss by blowing the team up. That's ridiculous.

I could see Letang, but I can't see Malkin moving on. You're also leaving out the fact that Ron Hextall doesn't write the checks, ownership does, and ownership has publically stated their desire to see Malkin retire a Penguin.

The delusions continues.....this is for the people who actually understand hockey. Neither Burke or hextall call the shots there. They have little real power. There is ZERO chance malkin goes and pretty much zero letang goes. Being you are oblivious, letang and minority owner Burke hare extremely good friends and it was burkle who kept Rutherford from trading letang ....thats the intelligent hockey fans.....now for habs 100000025...you should post more realistic non sense, like the habs will make the playoffs next season.

I personally wouldn't pay him a dime. Hoping for him to suddenly be healthy is too risky and he will cost WAY too much. He's still skilled, but anything over 3 years at $5 million doesn't peak my interest at all.

He's re-signing with the Pens. Probably for somewhere between 7-8 mil. Maybe 3-ish years. That's really about it.

Pittsburgh needs to move on from the core. Malkin is a fragile player that misses more games then he plays and even when he plays he takes games off. If they want to resign him start with a 5. What exactly does brining him back do? We aren't a contender for the Cup anymore. Its time to move on. Letang is more important than Malkin.

Logically you are correct however its a $$$ ,thing .malkin can still sell tickets and bring some star power. His desire is to stay in Pitt and glhe will. Letang is more important and its extremely unlikely he moves either .

Unlikely Hextall , Burke resign Letang , Malkin if Pittsburgh fail to advance past the 2nd rd your only fooling yourself believing management need to resign either player . Montreal Canadiens have nothing to do with Pittsburgh's failings except when they play each other in the playoffs .

It’s not what management wants it is what ownership and Crosby want. They are in much better shape than before Crosby arrived but aren’t in hurry to go back. If they don’t win another cup it’s ok they won multiple cups as a group.
In a perfect world they would have traded rust at the deadline instead of letting him walk because he will cash out this summer and moved on from Letang who despite his bone head moments on defense still is a good offense defensemen. Doumlin needs to go to a young team and we need picks petterson needs to go and we need picks.
As long as you can run Rakell/Crosby/doesn’t matter Jake/Malkin Zucker Doc Carter kap Blueger Boyle prospect they will be a play off team

I'm hoping that he resigns with Pittsburgh - 3 times 5 mil.

I have a feeling Hextall is going to start the rebuild and it begins next year with Connor Bedard.

This is currently a playoff side. The amount of deliberate selling off and refusing to replace players you'd have to do with this team to turn it into a bottom five team overnight is absurd and something that almost never happens in the NHL, if ever.

Pittsburgh have already proven they don't need Malkin to win regular season games and have also proven they don't need Letang to win a Stanley Cup . If Management choose not to resign either player they will have their combined salaries in cap space ( 16,750,000 ) to spend elsewhere . Crosby isn't the decision maker he wasn't when Burkle , Lemieux where the majority owners and he defiantly isn't now with new ownership and Burkle , Lemieux both only having minority ownership . Crosby has a friendship with Fleury but that didn't stop Pittsburgh from moving on from him and Crosby having a friendship with Letang , Malkin won't stop management moving on from them either..

Yeah they'll let Malkin walk so they can spend $10 million in Free agency to replace him with Kadri. Brilliant idea

Wrong and you been proven wrong countless times...LOL...hockey logic isn't your thing. There is zero chance, yes zero..malkin plays anywhere else next year..did I say 0?? Lol... there is a 95 percent chance letang is resigned. Burke and hextakll has NO say

If Malkin is seeking 7,000,000 + per x 3 years at 36 years old given he usually misses 15 / 20 games per season and his level of play will likely decrease resigning Malkin isn't a brilliant idea either .

Management should offer Malkin 5,000,000 per x 3 years and force him to accept or reject offer if he rejects the offer it will mean all Malkin's talk about wanting to remain in Pittsburgh was a lie because 5,000,000 per x 3 years is a fair offer for 36 year old player that misses 15 to 20 games per season

Your statement isn't factual but that's alright . The opinions of Burke , Hextall hold great importance like it or not.
