I'm hoping that he resigns with Pittsburgh - 3 times 5 mil.

I have a feeling Hextall is going to start the rebuild and it begins next year with Connor Bedard.

Geno already said he wants to sign with Pittsburgh and that "he already has a lot of money." He's comfortable here and I don't see him going anywhere.

Letang, however, I see getting a better deal elsewhere than the Pens are prepared to pay. I think the Letang leaving dividend could help sign Rakell and Rust, which should be priorities.

Wild card prediction. Canucks trade Miller and he reunites with Rutherford and Allvin. I remember hearing Malkin say how much he loved it in Vancouver during the world junior tournament.

This is 1 player you won't have to worry about NYR having an advantage to sign. I think he hates this organization with a passion. Or maybe he just hates every team like that..

I think everyone just assumes Malkin will re-up with the pens

Letang likely goes to the Habs. Already has 3 cups and money. Likely to still get good money per year and play for his hometown team. At least he won't be completely washed up when he gets here.

Letang has been looking for in the 7.0/7.0+ range, and the only holdup is term. If the Pens don't sign him for what he's probably himself more over than Malkin over term is just silly. Letang game is what will translate better playin 'til 40.

I have a very hard time thinking Mallon will sign anywhere else besides in Pitt . Unless he gets a crazy lowball offer but then I can see him go ba I home at that point . But not sure with what’s going on in Russia if their teams can make a big offer ?

Why do you keep repeating this as though it's a fact and not just your opinion?
It's unlikely Hextall , Burke resign Letang 35 years old and Malkin 36 years old if Pittsburgh lose in the 1st rd or 2nd rd .
Hextall , Burke have no emotional , sentimental attachment to either player if the team fails in the playoffs its likely the last time they play for the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Why do I get the feeling Malkin to the Leafs would be Jason Allison or Eric Lindros all over again?

Honestly I feel like he’ll either resign with the Penguins or perhaps even go to the KHL.

The one thing though is what about Crosby? Do you think Crosby is OK with a rebuild? I mean, I have no clue. He seems like the kind of guy that would be awesome taking young players and teaching them how to win. I think Crosby would actually be great for a rebuild, I just don't know what he thinks.

Montreal won't be signing Letang and if Pittsburgh don't advance past the 2nd rd Hextall /Burke won't be signing Letang or Malkin either .

Hughes has familiarity with Letang and will trade Petry, leaving a gaping hole on our RD.

I think the words you're looking for are "shouldn't" as I don't think we can say it's a definitive no.

What’s the reasoning behind the 2nd round?
If Pittsburgh lose in the 1st or 2nd rd the season will be considered a failure and Letang 35, Malkin 36 won't be getting better as players . Hextall , Burke don't have any sentimental attachment to either player .

Is it your opinion that they won’t re-sign Malkin or was something said.

In my opinion getting past the 2nd round has no baring if they will sign him or not. If he wants to play he stays in Pittsburgh.

It’s not considered a failure that’s what the current goals. To just be a playoff team over the next few years while Crosby is under contract. They aren’t going to do a rebuild until than however they are not trading picks any more either.
Doumlin Petterson will be moved for picks and when Zucker is gone next off season they will extend Jerry with his money
