I think the variable is how well they do in the playoffs. The idea that Hextall owes anyone anything is not the case. He works for new ownership and they will do what is in their best interests. Letang is a signing as Pens have zero replacements and Rust is looking to get an offer that Pens may have to be able to meet. DK Sports had a blip that the Red Wings will make Rust a priority as a FA signing and he is from Michigan. Geno is a player that under Mario he is signed but I am not sure with his injuries and missing so many games that the numbers will justify him taking 7 or more in cap space in a flat cap at his age.

They both will resign in Pitt for next sesosn. This is a absolute no brainer...besides the incredible obvious another reason is they don't have replacements for either and any equal would cost as much....what #1D will sign in Pitt for less than Letang will take ? Who fill play 2C and produce a point per game for less than malkin is goikg to take ? Nobody.
