That 64-point pace includes the Rangers series where I don't think his regular linemates were Kunitz and Rust. Wasn't he with Fehr then? After they tweaked his line, he scored something like 0+0 against Washington, 1+5 (including 0+2 on PP) against Tampa Bay and 2+1 against San Jose (2+0 on PP). Not all of that was with Kunitz and Rust but still.
I know it was the playoffs but, historically, Malkin's production doesn't tend to change much between regular season and postseason.
I already acknowledged the injury didn't help.
And I disagree that the line's production was fine. People will be complaining like no tomorrow if they repeat that performance. Just like they complained this year. I suffered through enough post-game threads and the like (yes, I know) to get a pretty good idea of how much people appreciated what Crosby and Malkin did. I believe the consensus was that both needed to be much better but at least Crosby had tough matchups, game-winning goals, leadership etc.
