they said that Doughty is in the tier right below Lidstrom and is on the same leves as Pronger

They really said that?

I love Doughty. I'm a big fan. I'd rank him slightly above McDonagh. But he's no where near Lidstrom or Pronger and I don't think he's even the best d-man in the league.

As annoying and whiny as the Habs fans were, at least they're knowledgeable when it comes to hockey. Generally, the Kings fans that have been active on the main boards have done nothing but reinforce negative stereotypes about hockey fans in non-traditional markets.

I thought pens fans were bad... Boy, was i wrong.

I was worried when I saw the consensus of HF boards thinks we are dead in the water for the finals!

I was, however, relieved when I remembered that the average fan's exposure to another team consists of a very small sample size, and if they did indeed watch enough of the other team, the were probably too drunk to know what was going on in the game anyway.

Despite 1994 I am rooting for you guys. It's been said previously but we were exhausted and decimated by injuries when we made the SCF in 2011. Certainly played a factor in our loss imo.

Having 4 lines, and being healthy, is huge. Good luck.

Really? Check out this gem from earlier today:

Blame Galchenyuk for hitting the crossbar, than getting robbed in Game 6 on his backhand, actually Lundquist didn't see it, he just reacted like a tool when the puck hit his blocker.

So this knucklehead is 0 for 2 in his hockey analysis.

Simply glancing at the main board is enough to lower your IQ 20 points. Stay far away.

Is it Wednesday yet?

I don't buy it. I am around them every day, and I also read their comments on various venues.

I have decades of experience observing the fervent fans of Les Habitants. Most of them feel entitled, and they are not all that smart as a MASS.
There are still some very well-reasoned Habs fans on HFBoards, but as a mass of fans, Canadiens fans come across as smug and borrowing way too much from the long lost past.
I had to explain to many of the ones I know what happened on the Kreider/Price collision. I showed them Gallagher putting Jonas Enroth out of action to shut their complaining yaps.
So many of them are just blinded, so in love with being a Habs fan. They deserve to be told, deserve to be slapped.

Id say Doughty and McD are fairly comparable defenseman. Doughtys a little better offensively, MCD is a little better defensively. Id rank them up there in the top tier of all defenseman in the NHL.

I don't get the feeling that it will happen, but there's still a decent possibility that we will get crushed. If this team has shown us anything this year, and I'm quoting myself in a main board thread here, it's that we can dominate any team in the league, but we can also be dominated by any team in the league. I'm not going to be all that shocked if that happens in either direction.

Or maybe I'm just protecting myself by lowering my own expectations.

I'd say the same for the Kings D in general. Martinez and Voynov are both excellent shooters but those opportunities are going to be neutralized 80+% more of the time than in the WCF because of our ability to block shooting lanes and pressure the point. I swear, the Kings have soooo much time out on the points. The Hawk forwards barely move. It's no wonder the Kings have been getting so many goals from their D this series. Our D is also going make it hell for their forwards so the question becomes, is the Kings' defense so great as to endure the relentless pressure our offense is capable of? What better way to neutralize Doughty than to make him chase Zuccarello, pinned in his zone, for 90 straight seconds? I feel like one of the lasting effects of Jagr, Dubinsky, and Callahan have made on this roster is how crafty and hard to catch they are along the boards. Zuke, MSL, and D.Moore too. They always seem to juke the pants off of defenders are create offensive zone pressure and eventually scoring opportunities.

I'm a big fan of Ryan McD, however, Doughty is all-world offensively. The rangers shut him down, they have a good chance to beat them. As for Chicago, they have a few more weapons that need to be watched closely, Kane, Keith and Towes. LA is the deeper team, however, Chicago has more dangerous players. The Rangers can certainly beat either. If you remember, the Devils lost the first two games against LA in overtime and still went on to win two games. If the Devils could have grabbed one of those first two games, we're talking about a game 7 in Jersey. Just saying except for one game, it was a closer series than most people think. And I believe this final will be a lot closer than most believe.
