Well, that would be the smart thing to say, even if they didn't think that.

if they were disappointed in that scenario they probably would have said something like "We're committed to seeing him develop properly, and we trust that he feels another year on his current team will benefit him the most."

I think they're fine with the timing being what it is. Obviously you'd like a guy showing those kind of results contributing over here ASAP and weird things could happen around the expansion draft that might make us a little more anxious but for now it's nice to have him developing in a place that doesn't see us burning a year off his contract. Especially if we're turning Greenway and Kunin pro next season.

So Kaprizov will play for Russian NT at Euro Tour in Sweden. Kinda weird, it's 3 games in 3 days - 9,10 and 11 of February. Or is it ok for Euro Tour?

It's 3 in 4 as usual. It's 9th to 12th.

does that mean he will miss any regular season games with ufa salavat?

No, the league takes a break for the tournament. Very convenient for the teams actually. Some rest for those who have to make a final push, time to heal up for the guys with minor injuries before the playoffs. The callups obviously are except from that luxury, but they play for their country and can showcase themselves for the WC.

I would be more than happy to see Kaprizov on the big team in May in Cologne. He deserves it with his play.

Two goals so far today vs Sweden in the Euro Tour:

....and the hatty.

Hmm... a playmaker like Granlund with a goalscorer who seems to have a special skill to find himself open... instant fail? :sarcasm::laugh:

And their Center might be on the team Kaprizov was playing against, Eriksson- Ek.

Joel Eriksson-Ek spoke to Swedish media saying that he talked to Kaprizov after the World Juniors, stating that Kaprizov had said that he was coming over to NHL after his contract ends.

Minnesota got a quite nice pipeline of prospects ready to start in the next season or two.

Kirill is the youngest ever Team Russia's player, who scored a hatty. As to Russia + USSR, the youngest is Krutov, who did it being 52 days younger. But Krutov did it in 10-3 victory over USA, and Kaprizov did it in 4-2 victory.

He remind anyone else of Pominville? Pretty similar games IMO.

That's an interesting thought. People might have forgotten how good of a player Poms was in his prime. Sort of a do all offensive player, with no obvious strength in speed, shot, power, or passing, but above average in most things.

Yeah, I feel like they've got similarly excellent shots, and ability to find those soft spots in the d to score from. Similar size, skating, hands and hockey IQ too.

Poms has dropped off a bit now, but was quite a dangerous player in his prime. Not a big star, but a borderline star who could certainly rack up the points.

Edon't look now , but Poms has come alive recently. 35 points in 55 GP, mostly on the third line with Erik Haula. Not amazing, but he is looking the best he has in years now. Shot is going in, and he is finding people with passes.

he'd what, 0 points in his last 7 games?

Do you mean he hasn't had points in the last 7 of Salavat Yulaev's games? Because the fact that he's been playing with the national team and not in the KHL for some (most?) of that time is likely a factor.

Edit: Actually I take that back, since it looks like there wasn't any direct overlap between the NT games and Salavat's schedule. Not sure if he actually missed KHL games because of it or not.
