No we have seen Laine almost first time this season in Tappara's first line with Kuusela and Lajunen, if he had a have same limitless ice time with best players in his team like Matthews, i think he would have more than PPG in pre season.

Pre season? You mean regular season?

It's a jab at Matthews for not getting past regular season

I understand that, I just don't see why it was brought up in the first place since the two don't play in the same league and have very rarely competed against each other directly.

Anyways, I don't want to be partly responsible for taking this thread off track, so I'll see myself out. :)

He'd be so perfect in Philly. We really need a pure goal scorer with size.

Name a team that doesn't.

He would be perfect in Florida, too. Take that Jagr spot + the chemistry with Barkov as they are both from the same city and played for the same FEL team. :naughty:

E: He plays the wrong wing but it's not like it's going to happen anyway

Call me homer, call me crazy but i confidently say that Laine is most talented player in this year draft. To me he is in totally different tier than anyone in this draft. Yes, totally different tier than Matthews too. I still think Matthews goes #1 but i don't think he is at Laine's level.

Finally away from Järvinen and Peltola! He's free!

What a difference. The trio of Laine, Lajunen, and Kuusela dominated today. They moved the puck well and made everything happen for Tappara.

that should be more than clear for everyone who watched WJC this year

Finally he has good linemates :handclap:

This media hype etc. feels almost the same what Teemu Selänne was getting before making the move to Winnipeg.

Patrik Laine is a rockstar! :yo:

As much as i love Laine that's just ignorant.

US had a very underwhelming tournament. You can't just judge players based on one international tourny.

Give Matthews linemates he'd same chemistry as Laine had with Aho&Pulju and play the tournament in the US. And have Laine play on a team that's underperforming. That's when Matthews would be the #1 scorer.

It's not that black and white.

This wasn't even his best game and 3 points. 9 goals in the playoffs and the kid just turned 18, what the hell!

Matthews who?

If a team is going to pass this guy no matter the need, they are going to regret it for a long, long time.

Or put Laine to the Swiss league in first and best line with limitless ice time next year (cause Matthews is almost year older). Actually Laine would put same type of numbers this year already than Matthews in Swiss league with same players in his line and ice time and actually if he could that chance in Tappara and he has had PPG in FEL.

Would be a fit with Giroux and on PP. Imagine the Philly PP with shots like Laine, Ghost, Giroux's one timer. If the Flyers lose tonight, I almost hope that they wouldn't have made the playoffs for a chance at this guy.

I'm wondering how much can he work out his acceleration. His first strides still look terrible. Some people are quick naturally, it's in their genes but Laine is not one of them.

why cant you guys just drop these? IMO Laine going second is even better. No extra pressure for him.

Laine doesn't care about the pressure. Quite the opposite actually. He gets better when the going gets tougher.

Is Ovechkin a pure superior skater? Thought so.

It's the goal scoring that does the talking, I was downplaying Laine earlier because my favorite was Pulju for a while. Not that he's better than Ovechkin in skating, but cmon.
Goal scoring =/= Skating in the long run

 Matthews is the better prospect at the moment and is going #1 regardless of how much people try to convince
