I think people see the huge one timer and immediately think Ovechkin/Kovalchuk, but that is just one facet of his game although it is a big one. He has that one timer, but overall I think Jagr is a better stylistic comparable for Laine.
I don't really understand the Lemeiux comparisons with Laine. I can see the Ovechkin/Kovalchuk comparisons a bit, but really I think the best comparable for Laine is Jagr.
Obviously Im not saying he'll be as good as Jagr, but I think that is the best comparable. The way Laine protects the puck with his massive frame and soft hands.. Very Jagr esque. Neither have blazing speed like Ovechkin did.

Lol comparing a guy with super elite shot to Jagr who can't even shoot a slapper? I mean I love Jagr but his shot isn't really his forte.
E: I just think they play completely different game. Laine is all about his shot while Jagr obviously isn't.

Laine interview after 1st period: "during warmups HIFK players told me i can't even hit the net, they can watch the highlights later"
I still can't believe this kid is the top gun in this league, being psyched by his opponent, pressured by the media, and how does he respond ? Plays a strong 1st period. As a 17 year old in the finals
Im starting to have a mancrush on him (like i didn't already after the WJC's).
Please stop this overhyping. He is 18.
His style is a lot like Jagr's but he will never have the same strenght to shield the puck in the NHL so we will see a lot more dangles and stickhandling compared to Jagr (which i guess combined with his frame reminds people of Lemieux?). His shot is heavy and accurate (tbh i don't even think his shot is very comparable to Kovy/Ovie, they shoot it differently) and he will hit more than Jagr (who basically doesn't hit), but not as much as Ovie.
I guess some people overe here really hadn't watched much Jágr before he was like 100 years old.
Laine is bigger version of Tarasenko.
