First of all, the pass is to a guy 30 feet away, not Strome. I don't see how you understood his post the way you did.

And yeah that thing you call "a little back hand toe drag" is something he does pretty often in situations you don't really expect.

I think that his actual toe drag toe drag is really pretty, too.

Here at 2:41 - 2:44:

I read it wrong. Sue me.

And that "little thing I call a backhand toe drag" is what its called...

That thing you call a " toe drag toe drag" is actually jist called a toe drag.

As for him using the backhand toe drag in situations you wouldn't expect? I'd say using it to get around a player is the exact time to expect a dangle...

backhand t's aren't exactly the most efficient way to get around defenders

Toe drag is literally the first dangle one practices... just saying. If you can’t do an effective toe drag you may as well pack it in cause you can’t do much with the puck if you can’t toe drag. And I’m not saying it’s a bad dangle, it has it’s applications.

I'm definitely waiting for the time when Laine's playmaking skills start to get more credit, so many hockey fans just talk about how he only has his shot and nothing else, when his playmaking skills are 1st class as well.

2.20-

Agree here. Laine's playmaking is definitely underrated mostly because of his goal scoring ability.

This was one of my favourite passes from the WHC given the importance of the moment. Just a gorgeous assist to Jokinen.

I'm very excited to see how Laine does vs a team like Sweden in 5v5 game, especially defensively.

Stoked about the game. It's been reported that Laine has grown during the summer and hovers at 6"5 which is kind of gigantic. Of course nearly impossible to tell from the tv screen, but I'll certainly try see how he looks against other tall skaters out there.

Interesting, not a surprise he has grown. But 6'5, and still filling out. I'd like to read that report. Laine will be some kind of package of size and skill when he has completed his growth stage.

Do you have a source for Laine growing? He's listed 6'5 at NHL's website but he was listed that there immediately after the draft for whatever reason. At the combine his afternoon height was 6'3.75". I'm not saying it's impossible, I just haven't seen it being mentioned anywhere.

Laine's been saying he's 6'5" for a long time. Like since January or something.

Tappara lists him at 194cm, measured at the start of last season. That's around 6'4.5

Yeah, I'm pretty sure he is 194cm out of bed. By the time he was measured at the combine (at 3pm IIRC) he was down to 192,5cm. But it is possible that he has grown since, I'd just like to see a credible source.

I never understood how Laine only measured in at 6'3.75 at the combine looking at this picture.

He's clearly the tallest player of this group.

Let's see how he looks next to Victor Hedman if such situation arrives.

Yea I remember debating his and Laine's height with some Leafs fans who argued that Laine only looked more than an inch taller because of the angle it was taken from.

Laine is standing right beside Tkachuk who is 6'2. Even if the angle favoured him slightly. It is clear he is much taller using this as a reference point.

He is standing right next to 6'0.5 Nylander too. Nylander looks ~1.5 inches shorter in the picture, it's no use as a reference.

Nylander should look the tallest using the angle reasoning, to the naked eye it is clear he is not. I think the picture is a proper representation. The other 3 players are standing at roughly the same angle and given their height's it does look correct where Dubois would be the tallest. There is nothing misrepresentative of the photo IMO.

Well that's alright because if Tkachuk is at Laine's eye level Laine would be around 6 inches taller, so assuming that due to the angle we get 3 inches too much for Laine and hence 3 inches too much for Nylander, Laine ends up being 6'5" and Nylander 6'05".

However, due to the angle Nylander should gain more than Laine because comparatively the effect gets higher the closer you are.

It's obviously the angle. Just look at the size of their heads.

Laine doesn't look more than 2 inches taller than Matthews or Dubois in the photo below. Both are 6'2.

Yup, and you can also check the "the boys" pic from Laine at Instagram. Matthews looks so ridiculously smaller in the first pic posted above, that it really does favor Laine pretty much.

Picture looks fine. It would support the notion that Laine is closer to 6'4, Dubois is 6'3, and Matthews is 6'2 looking at this picture without over examining angles and posture.

Laine looks to be the tallest of the three but it's interesting how Dubois and Matthews were measured to be the same height when Dubois looks pretty visibly taller in both pictures here.
