Ho-Sang outshined him big time in training camp.

The coaches aren't overly excited by what they've seen

Great - Glad to have him back in Oshawa.

DJ Smith is a very good coach and knows what to do to further refine his skills.

I saw him last night live against the Bruins.

The offensive instincts are there, but it seemed like he was struggling to get where he needed to be to play his game. His main focus should be on bulking up and improving his skating.

Hope I get to see him in the lineup tomorrow.
He has the frame, so bulking up shouldn't be a problem. Love the kids attitude - seems like a for sure thing if you ask me.

Big fan of him, will likely see him quite a bit of him again this year. Hoping for a big season!

Looked great in his first game back. Scored a goal and an assist and was creating things all night. He was absolutely lethal.

Would not touch this kid with a 10' pole.

Soft on the boards, no fire in the belly, just a complete waste of a 5th overall pick.

It's strange how little discussion Dal Colle has for a 5th pick, and what is said in forums is often luke-warm at best. Any ideas on why this is so? Is he just "boring"?

My theory is Islanders fans are more vocal about the flahier Ho Sang, so Dal Colle got lost in the shuffle of Islander fan prospect bragging. I am guessing as the season goes on and Dal Colle performs we will here more talk about Dal Colle

Imo some fans consider MDC to be a safe pick. Talented, but with very few warts and worries for fans.
While Ho-Sang needs to add size/ mature/ get better at distributing the puck.
So, Ho-Sang gets more discussion.

Reminds me of drafting Strome. The organization was excited, the fans busy debating who else should have been taken. Then after 1-2 seasons of following Strome, fans jumped on the bandwagon.

We talked up Dal Colle for so long, we already knew he was coming to us with the 5th pick. It was too perfect not to happen, so we followed him as if he was already drafted. Ho-Sang, on the other hand, was a huge shock, and we focused a lot of our attention on him as fans since we didn't know too much about him and he seemed so exciting.

That is true as well, we had like 2 months talking about Dal Colle and how we will draft him or possible scenarios where we might not draft him.

I am guessing without Ho Sang we might have got into more why Ehlers, Nylander or Virtanen are as good a prospect as Dal Colle debates and a few why Dal Colle potentially might end up better then Bennett or Draisaitl ones as well this summer

What does his long term position projection look like? I see that he was a center for most of his early career, then switched to wing last year. Do you think he'll stick with wing going forward, or move back to center in the NHL? He's a pretty big guy - would seem like good center material to me? Or are the islanders stacked at C?

Also given the way Strome has taken forever to crack the lineup, it will be what... 3 years before Dal Colle sees the ice?

Isles have enough bodies, dal colle will have to force his way in. Imo this the best approach.
