I think Ho-Sang is the sexy pick. He has a ton of flash and personality. Entertainment value sells tickets.

5 points in 2 games since returning(3 points tonight including a GWG and empty netter)

I'd be impressed if he was doing this in the AHL.

Dal Colle has a lot to prove in living up to being a fifth overall.

The Islanders are a team that can't afford to squander top five draft picks because they have already stupidly done this with the trade of Nino and possibly Vanek and Snows failure to sign and attract top free agents.

We need another star now.
Hopefully MDC or HO Sang are those guys but if not its back to the drawing board and yet another year of tarnished expectations.

You're probably one of the only dudes alive that doubts the validity of Dal Colle as a top 5 pick. Guaranteed most people who have followed him over the past few years consider him a great pick for the Isle's.

Yes I'm suspect of him but I hope your right.

Anyone seeing him play? He is putting up decent numbers, but how is his play and his team playing? Something standing up?

Thanks in advance :)

Comparing MDC to Ho Sang is pretty off the wall. MDC was a consensus top 5 pick. It sounds like you think he was a stretch there.

Have not watched MDC much this year, but what is going on with his production levels?

He is a lot farther back behind the leaders than I thought he would be.

He's played in about 3 or 4 less games than the leaders.

Anyone have any video from his 5 point game today?

With his 5 point game today he is now at that magical 2PPG pace(32 points in 16 games). Wonder if he will break 100 points because chances are he only plays like 50-55 games

Thought this thread deserved a bump. After his goal and assist last night, Dal Colle now has 22 goals and 48 points in 24 games this season. He's one of only four players in all of juniors at a 2 point per game pace along with McDavid, Ehlers and Domi and besides McDavid and Domi he's the only player out of the top 15 scoring leaders in the OHL that has played less than 30 games (McDavid has played in 18, Domi in 27). I only took a quick look but it seems that he is the only player that is close to a goal per game as well. Just an unbelievable year for him.

Those are dominate numbers for all players listed above. They all look great.

Great to see Max Domi on the list.

A lot of great untapped talent outside the NHL. Been watching the World Jr's. And I've been impressed with how talent these kids are today.

This is an exciting time for hockey.

its amazing how little hype this kid gets.... he just doesn't get talked about on HFBoards. Even on the Islanders page... even on their Propect thread theres more mentions of Josh Ho Sang than Dal Colle. MDC is really clicking on all cylinders and doesn't seem to get much love.

Very underrated prospect, same with Pulock and Mayfield.

Islanders are surprisingly great at drafting talents, yet no one gives them the props they deserve.

I remember just when Vanek was dealt, Islanders were regarded by many as the biggest laughing stock of a league(yes even more than the Oilers and Leafs) with slim to none hope to look forward to in the future, yet here we are seeing major difference from one single off-season. Just goes to show what little value people really put in the future.

They had just made the playoffs the season prior to that...

Drafted by the Islanders currently playing for the team:
Tavares, Okposo, Lee, Nelson, Nielsen, Martin, Cizikas, Bailey, Strome
Hamonic, Dehaan, Donovan

9/13 forwards
3/8 defenseman

They built through the draft for years and its finally paying off, its quite amazing that Pulock, Reinhart, MDC, and Hosang are still in the minors, while having a lot of other quality prospects especially on the blue line.

Love the guys skillsets, I've seen him play 15+ times live over the past 2 years. While he does post great junior numbers, I question whether or not he's going to be able to translate it into a producing top 6 forward at the next level.

At the WJC camp he didn't separate himself from the rest as mentioned above IMO due to A) lack of a good/great 200ft-game, not effective as a bottom 6-forward (top 6 forwards seemed locked from pre-camp) & b) not able to keep up at the speed & physical toughness of the other players.

He has a WICKED shot and has very very good offensive instincts and he's able to dominate with those at the junior level. When put against top peers of his own age as well older competition (for future), I question whether or not he'll be able to adapt to the speed & physical toughness at the next level... IMO

One of my favorite prospects for sure.

His skill and size combo is deadly. When I watch him I see Malkin, but I think that's mostly because he has that "tall guy using a short stick" look going on.

So good. Would not surprise me one bit if he's putting up the best numbers of any forward from his draft class.
