LW Matthew Boldy - Boston College, NCAA (2019, 12th, MIN)

I love Boldy as a player! He really impressed me when I first saw him at u18s years ago.. and I wanted the Canucks to grab him at 10 so baddddd. But I'm super happy for Minnesota and him, they've been drafting so damn well. Glad to see him back in action, excited to follow his NHL career. LETS GO

such a bummer he had that injury earlier in the year. Truly believe Boldy would have been in the running for ROY

Considering neither rossi or Beckman made the team its hard to believe there was a spot for him.

I believe a spot in the lineup was his to lose. He lost it only because of the injury. That’s how I remember it going down at least.

The speculation was that more than one of rossi, boldy and Beckman would make it. But it's easier to put duhaime up and down the line up while the 3 offensive players dominate in ahl.

Well never know for sure I guess. But it seems fair to surmise that if they were ready to give that spot to an offensive player, then Beckman or rossi were better choices than duhaime.

When they picked up Pitlick off of waivers, that pretty much punched Boldy’s ticket to Iowa.

You seem like you’re more in tune with what’s going on over there then me so I will take your word for it. I just have Boldy in my 32 man keeper and as such keep an eye on things a little bit when it comes to Minnesota. Rossi I thought for sure though would be back in the ahl since he’s coming off those serious issues from Covid.

Im pretty sure by end of camp the 3 were playing 4th line and writing was on the wall. Between my pools I have owned all 3 so I also keep a close eye. Flipped Rossi for Mercer ++ this summer.

Boldy was in line to make the team till he injured himself. Rossi was always going to go down to Iowa...the poor guy hasn't played any games since junior.

so is Boldy still due for a callup to the team? or would the plan be to let him play out the season with the farm?

He's probably the first injury callup, but whether he gets called up just because he deserves it, your guess is as good as ours.

I think most of us are hoping or even expecting to see Boldy and Rossi up at some point during the season and hopefully in the full time lineup by the end of the year. You can't really say the guys holding them back are uber talented so it is just a matter of time. They both seem to be making a strong case for a call up.

I don't think we'll see Rossi until the playoffs....Boldy much sooner than that.

I keep harping on this point and I could definitely be wrong but the cynic in me says that neither Boldy nor Rossi get more than 9 games this year because of the buy-out penalties on Suter & Parise. If both the Rossi & Boldy contracts come up for renewal before those buy-out penalties roll off then the Wild will have major cap issues.

Makes sense for Rossi.

Boldy will get a new contract in the summer of 2023 regardless of whether he plays more than 9 games or not. He's in the second year of his ELC.

It's really up to Boldy. If he scores 1.5-2/PPG then MN will be more or less forced to bring him up. Iowa has only been playing weekend games games, for the most part so far, so it will take time for him to get up a body of work down in Iowa. After Thanksgiving the schedule will start to ramp up a bit, allowing him to be seen in games more.

I think the Canucks have more interest in Lambos than Boldy. but its going to be either one if Guerin wants Boeser or Miller.

Boldy is now up to 24 points (9g + 15 ast) and a +7 in 17 AHL games. That’s just under an 82 game pace if 120 points (45g + 75 ast) and a +35.

I hope that we see him up soon. Even if he has an adjustment period at the NHL level I think he’s certainly an upgrade over a few of the guys the Wild regularly play. I would love to see him with Fiala to give him some skill.

He’s too good for the AHL.
